in Guild Wars
I got the game a few days ago (and its great; lived up to the hype). But I have a noob question. Sorry if they are dumb (background: I am only interested in PvE):
- Can I move my characters between campaigns? Every time I start a new character I have to choose which campaign (NIghtfall, fractions, original). So it seems that I have to start a new character for every campaign. Is this correct?

yes there are npcs and boats so on you can click on the map eventualy
Yes if you have all the campains, you can move between them no matter where you started on.
The thing is, this is PvE related. Lets say you start in Prophecies.
You will have to make your way to Lions Arch before you can start the quest to allow you access to the factions zones.
Lions Arch is also the city to start the quest to allow access to eyes of the north.
So to answer your question, yes 1 character can go anywhere in the 3 games, just takes some work to get there.
You can look up the quest on GW Wiki prolly or GWguru. I am pretty sure the steps are documented somewhere.
Once unlocked though, movement is easy.
Lets say after you unlock the faction area. It will be from that point on as simple as opening your map and clicking the ship near Lions Arch and go to Factions.

Depending on your starting campaign, you have to get to Lion's Arch, Kaineng Center, or Consulate Docks to move to another campaign. Once you get there, you'll be offered quests that will take you to the other campaigns that you have. After you've done the relevant quests, you can transfer to another campaign via map travel by clicking on the boat.

There is only 1 thing that could prevent you from moving your characters between campaigns, besides giving up before reaching the town/part of the storyline that unlocks travel:
If you have registered each of your campaigns under different accounts, then you're screwed. From your post it seems you needen't worry about that though.
