I'm buliding a new PC soon and want to try a new MMO that will really wow me graphically. I know that graphics aren't an MMO's strong suit, but they're my favorite genre of game. So what MMOs are very graphically impressive on their highest settings? Thanks!

There are prolly more, but I can't think of them atm!
Don't forget Guild wars and Lineage 2.
The Chronicles of Spellborn will be released soon and it's one of the most graphically intense games I've ever played in some areas of the world. In fact, there were some zones that my friends couldn't enter with me because their computers couldn't handle it. The visuals are amazing in places like The Athenaeum, The Green District(<-- This one especially) and raftyards. Also, the game is a lot of fun with active combat and a number of features you won't find in other games.
Vanguard..EQ2..AoC
AoC - Vanguard.
- Age of Conan
- Lord of The Rings Online
- EverQuest II
- Vangaurd: Saga of Heroes
EVE has good graphics, but doesn't really push your system. Lineage II's graphics model wise are poor, although it does have nice textures and some cool effects. A mid-range system could run it though. Guild Wars has pretty dated graphics, you could run it easily on an entry level system.

I think Vanguard is the most intensive and the best looking so it wins in my books.As far as games that make a system struggle,that could just be a zone/map done with too many objects for DX9 to handle,the limit is pretty much standard around 500 objects.VG pushes it because it has such a large /expansive view distance.
EQ2/AOC/LOTR are all close and not bad,i doubt there is a game that would really send your eyes into oblivion lol.What we need is more games to do like NWN/UT ,by allowing outsiders to make content for their games,we would get a ton better product.I have seen stuff made by the Unreal community,that is just over whelming,IMO that community has the most diverse talent of all the games.
Lookout for Mortal Online and Earthrise,those two games may look real good.NCSOFT has gone back to licensing the Unreal engine,so i can only guess they were not happy with the CRY engine that AION is using.They are releasing Blade and Soul this year that uses the UE3 engine.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

That's a bit of a misnomer, while LOTRO is stunning, debateably the best looking, its NOT really pushing anything, and that's to its credit, its scales better than any other game on that list and hold up while doing to.

* LOTRO - No comment.
* AoC - True.
* EQII - No comment.
* EVE {kinda] - WTF
* Vanguard - No comment.
* Guild Wars - Maybe
* Lineage II - No f**** comment.
Are you even serious? lmfao. Maybe they push the limits of a PC with windows 200 and 1.5 GB RAM.
EQ II is great
AoC - Gorgeous
EQII - Only pushes anything because it's optimized like shit
AoC is probably the best looking MMO on the market these days.
Mne eto nado kak zuby v zadnitse.
I played both Vanguard and Aoc and my pc is pretty nice, could use a little better graphics card but it can run those 2 games on high settings. IMHO, Vanguard ftw, that game looked much better to me than AoC and runs better now that it's been fixed over the past year or 2. Plus AoC is complete shite IMO because it was completely built around a the gimmick of real time combat and not timed combat but to me it's just as repetitive as timed cooldowns and such. If you want the best looking game and best gameplay Vanguard FTW.
This.
This.
I agree.
Playing AoC now and with everything turned all the way up, it's very nice to look at. Everquest 2 has some nice graphics, but good luck trying to run them.
i'll also recommend EVE and Guild Wars
wow....you EvE fanbois get me.....
yeah...looks great....so does a hot fudge sundae.......but passed the sweetness of graphics.....nadda....whether you like it or not....
but keep jeetin around empty space.....
"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to. Relax....."
Gotta go with AoC on this one.
Absolutely beautiful graphics...
"nerf rock, paper is working as intended."

Head Chop
AoC then LOTRO.
Most other MMOs look like absolute tripe, though Spellborn looks pretty good.

I know you all with think I'm nuts for this, but I'm going to toss FFXI into the mix.
Yes, it's really old, it's DX8.1 and its on the PS2. How good can it be right?
Technically, it's terribly by today's standards.
Artistically, it's absolutely incredible.
The art directors of FFXI got a lot of things right.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
OK, don't listen to the EVE and FFXI comments. Like he said FFXI is on the ps2 it's outdated, at the time it was nice but getting a lil out of date now. EVE with the premium graphics is nice but how hard is it to graphically make a solar system that is 50% blackness and then just a star and some asteroids with some nebula glow...not that hard imo. LOTRO is nice but I don't think you can put it in the same category with Vanguard or AoC it's just not as nice. Now the fact that people even say GW's makes me laugh. That game is not even that nice, it basically has the same graphics as L2 and that game is like 4 yrs. old. You can try them for yourself but Vanguard and AoC are just in another level than the rest. Oh, and Mortal Online will be very graphically impressive and will take a mean machine to run it on high settings. Ok, i'm done and don't flame too harsh .
Age of Conan
but to use a cliche', dont judge a book by its cover
