At release there definatly won't be 500,000 people. Most people DO have 2 accounts in the open beta (I don't though). Also a lot of people will probably leave, and the rest of the people won't have the money for it.

What are all these assumptions based upon? You must know must know everyone in beta pretty well if you know what they going to do before hand. How do you know there definetly won't be 500k people at launch? What about all the people not in beta?

Well...City of Heroes followed the same tactic when it came time to open up the beta a little.  Purposeful data-mining and load testing bears no indication of what state the game is actually in.  All of this worrying is going to be pretty funny in a week.

Hey buddy, you know what a "STRESS TEST" is? It's a test on how much the server can handle... If half a million people are causing the server to lag. Then they should've had half a million people in the stress test, not open beta.

The whole idea of the open beta is to test a smallish number of servers with a much bigger overload of players than will occur in the final release, the idea behind this is to check the breaking points of the servers and to ensure that come release day they have the best servers possible.  Also as a side point apart from the occasional lag and downtime (which you cant really complain about seeing as how you are getting a free sneak preview of the real thing) this game is still far and away the most immersive and enjoyable mmorpg that I have played.  The graphics are really good, the gameplay is excellent, roleplaying is great, teamwork is made to be fairly essential which is great, and the fighting/questing/roleplaying/pvp balance is just right.  The only question you have to ask yourself is if you were going to play an mmorpg at the moment it would be between two WoW and EQ2? In my opinion WoW blows EQ2 away.

You guys seem to be forgetting the fact that this is *still* a test.  Open BETA is not some "free DEMO" it's still an extension of the stress test.  And, often, it's used to test release capaiblities.  Can they handle 500,000+ Open Beta signups?  Well, that's a good test of how they'll handle release.

Also, LAG?  Why not force LAG by reducing numbers of servers.  Then try to fix the problem and roll-out that fix to all your servers.

We test it for them and our pay is getting to play the game.  So, suck it up and do the job you signed up for without whining.

Want to whine?  Pay your money and wait until *after* release, *then* you can be whiners.
