Woot, thanks for this, its really a cool song. Never heard of the group.

Somehow I feel all the good music was in the 70ies and 80ies, basically. Though its nice to see even today some good music is made. ^^

Hey now you get ripped like me and try typing, it isn't that easy you know.   Also, I make good threads.   ::Sigh::  Just because they are not always about politics and religion doesn't mean they are not good.

I always check out the iTunes Discovery tracks hoping to hear something I've never heard before that I might like, though lately they have been pretty crap.

I grew up listening to the local College music station so I was exposed to lots of different types of music growing up. My iPod has almost every type of music you could imagine, from Techno, classical, Blue Grass, Reggae, classic and new rock, hip hop, Blues, RnB ect. Just depends on my mood what I’ll listen to. Like the other day I was listening to a few Duffy tracks I have xD, seriously, I dig some of her music. I won’t admit it in public to my friends though.

OMG...dude...I listen to all kinds of music...from country to rap to R&B, rock and even some classical because just like you I have moods I go through and sometimes the music has to fit the mood.    It is lame to like just one type of music when there is so much different stuff out there.

For a different take on Ordinary World I kind of like THIS.

The song hasn't been normalized so you might have to turn up your volume for this one but it's interesting if you ask me.  Anyways, back to Shinedown.. they're good.  I like most of their stuff.  I kind of have a liking for the generic indie stuff I guess.  My music taste consists of plenty of different genres.  Everything from Classic Rock, to numetal, even a screamo song or two.  Not much of a country fan though and of course you gotta have some classical music.

I also tend to gravitate toward bands or music makers that take instruments out of their element and make a different style of music with it.  One such band is Apocalyptica.  They're a bunch of dudes all playing a Chelo and playing metalica on them and other original stuff.  I think it's pretty neat.

Here's a song by them called Path.  Give it a listen.  You may or may not like it.

There's plenty of good new music, and our generation has a bunch of new genres that were only hinted at in the 60s/70s.

Singer/Songwriter: The Mountain Goats, Bonnie Prince Billie

Indie Rock (hate the stigma attached to the genre, and the genre is flooded with pretentious no-talent assclowns, but alas): Cloud Cult, Bon Iver, HEALTH, The National, Final Fantasy, Santogold,Vampire Weekend

    Slocore: Low, Codeine, Drunk, Spokane

Screamo: Circle Takes the Square, City of Caterpillar

Post-rock (my favorite genre, if you haven't heard these musix check them out): Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros, Mono (Those are the big 4 names/styles of post-rock, if you like it pm me and I'll give you some other recs)

Post-Hardcore: Suffocate for Fuck Sake, Envy

Metal: Maudlin of the Well, Made out of Babies (Honestly can't get very into metal, way too melodramatic and abrasive)

    Prog: Porcupine Tree, Tool

Electronica: Electric President, The Notwist, Goldfrapp, Royksopp

    Trip Hop: Massive Attack, Portishead

Rap (only southern rap for the mst part, rap from either coast tends to suck balls): Three Six Mafia, Guerilla Maab, Z-Ro, early Lil Flip, T-Rock

And my top album recommendation of 2008 is: Why? - Alopecia www.youtube.com/watch

Catchiest mix of indie-rock and rap I;ve heard.

And Edit: If any of you are actually interested in any of this, pm me and I'll send you download links to the albums, they are all on my computer. No illegal links in my post I win!

Good song. But not their best at all. Shinedown is a muy bueno band, one of my favorites as of late, check out the rest of their shit. You won't be disappointed.

that was quite interesting, it reminds me very strongly of "They might be giants", but i couldn't find any good example tracks. birdhouse in your sould was one, but the whole of the Apollo 18 album also seemed to do it.

hmm, i might track down Alopecia

Good modern music is being made, even if the old stuff is better. But A Tout Le Monde Peace Sells by Megadeth is pretty good. Machine Head's The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears or Halo is also some decently new good stuff. But nothing beats Jethro Tull.

I actually thought that devour was pure dogshit. And the rest of their stuff I love.

.45 is deep and philosophical, perhaps a bit depressive though. Their whole leave a whisper CD is pretty good. Although from it I love burning bright.

A song from the sound of madness CD that gets me pumped up is the song...Well, Sound of Madness. I kind of fancy the underlying story of...Your life may be screwed up, but so is mine, and I'm still here to tell the tale...GET OVER IT!

Breaking inside...another depressing one but good. Save me, and I dare you, both high radio play, but they're good.

Also the crow & the butterfly, If you only knew.

Alot of their songs have a nostalgic feeling to them, part of why I love them so.

I listened to it. It's pretty cool but it's not my style.

Another song by Shinedown I like is Fly From the Inside.  There's no youtube vid of the song but there is some random user made movie with it playing in the background.  Here's the Link if you're interested.  Just disregard the video and listen to the song.

Also give Cold a listen.  Some songs like Stupid Girl are interesting.
