Hey guys, im currently looking for a new MMORPG to play with some of my friends (although i doubt you can suggest me any i didnt notice yet, but who knows )- here are some infos about what i am looking for:
1. It has to be free to play (or balanced CS, crowded private servers )
2. I really like a big diversity concerning classes and races.
3. I absolutely enjoyed Ragnarok online, cause of the class System. Imo it's very motivating to quest/grind when you can switch your character class at lvl X. Example: You are novice from lvl 1-10, then you choose 1 of a few basic classes, in this example a Warrior. Then, at lvl 40 you can decide wether you will become a Knight or a Crusader and so on.
4. I want individuality. I HATE it when there are just a few Weapons/Armors that everyone can wear at lvl X. When you can tell by what someones wearing which lvl he is. Those Item sets the NPC sell every 10 Lvls or something, like in Perfect World or many other mmorpgs. Again, i really enjoyed the Item System in Ragnarok (ecspecially the Cards)
5. Miscellaneous Skills and a stat system are also very welcome.
6. Graphics shouldnt be TOO outdated. In general i dont care much about graphics (i mean i liked Ragnarok) but it shouldnt look like a game from the 90's (when it has a comiclook - np at all)
7. I absolutely dont care about the community, whether it is helpful, childish or mentally disabled. I will only play together with my friends anyway.
8. I never participate in PVP so please dont suggest any PVP based games.
9. The Game really MUST have either the above mentioned class System, OR many quests, OR an addicting Item System (if it has all 3 things - i wont complain either )so you dont just grind your ass of for nothing.
10. I only want 1 Character so games like Atlantica or Sword of the new World (god how i hated this game) are out.
Sooo i cant think of anything else atm, although i relaly doubt that this list is complete yet
Anyway, let me hear your suggestions
Games i played or will not play:
Atlantica Online, Perfect World, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Anarchy Online, Ragnarok Online, Rose Online, Requiem: Bloodmare, Sword of the new World, Dark and Light, Everquest 2, Last Chaos, Silkroad Online, Rappelz, Ryzom, Ether Saga Online, Runes of Magic (didnt play it but it looks unbelievable boring) Phoenix Dynasty Online. [At least those are all i can think of atm]

Give vanguard a shot. The game is pve centric with very well design crafting and pretty intesting diplomacy sphere. The game also focus mostly around a group of 6 player so if you are going to play with a couple of friend, I'm sure you till have alot of things to do together. Server population is kind of low but since you don't really care about other people that much and mostly going to play with your friends only. This shouldn't be much of a problem for you.
The free trial give you 14 days to test out the game and if you do find it to your liking, all you have to do is pay for the monthly subscription and you can start enjoying all that vanguard have to offer.

Should try it out it seems to meet what you are looking for, dual classes, tons of quest, good character customization etc.
As you join a new game, you have got new allies
Come and have a try Galaxy Online, boy. But i am not sure if you will like this little client game. really amazing before i finished my WOW here.
Galaxy online is kind of meh. To me, galaxy online have so much down time that I would consider it to be a game to play when you are playing other games . However, when ever I start up conter-strike, or log into WC3 to get my dota fix. The entire game would freeze and I have to close galaxy online for everything to work correctly again.
If you want something a little out of the norm try Anarchy-Online! You can basically play a full fledged Sci-Fi mmo for free and then if you and your friends decide you really like it you can sub up and get access to the later expansions. The game has several interesting systems and the classes are pretty cool when combined with its skill system.
The graphics are a bit dated on many respects but if you can look past some that it really is a pretty deep and fun Sci-Fi MMO. Like I suggested in another thread Vanguard is also a great choice if you have some friends you plan on playing with. The big downfall of Vanguard is its low population at lower levels. It would be a blast with 2 or 3 buddies though!
Concerning Vanguard, I really wanted to try this game but cause of the fact that im currently (or rather since a year) saving my whole money for a one year trip to New Zealand, i can't/dont want to afford the monthly fee.
I'll catch up on those games you suggested but nevertheless, recommend some more games, if you know any :P
Sorry about that, I missed that you did try or are not interested in Anarchy Online. If you give Dream of Mirror Online, give it a chance and get past the kid-like cartoony graphics. There are some pretty cool gameplay elements and classes. Perfect World seems to be popular but I haven't got into it as much.
If you don't mind me asking, what did you think about Anarchy Online? With that being said, I agree with another poster on this thread - you might want to give Runes of Magic another look. It has been getting great reviews and seems to have a lot of what you are looking for.
