Hi, I am one of the indie developers that has been working on the project called Islands Of War. Its a MMORPG game using the Multiverse Platform. We are getting close to beta testing and I thought I would invite all the players that follow MMORPG.com to signup.

Good luck with the indie game!

nice interface :-)
Looks interesting, thanks for posting this!
I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.
I think the interface and graphics look great. Especially for an Indie game. I'd like to see how the gameplay is, but from reading the site and the graphics, IoW looks like it could be a great game.
Generic MMORPG question for you: is your game a mediocre WoW-clone? Please explain what makes it not a WoW clone.
(Yes, I took the liberty of filling in a "no" answer to the first question before asking the follow-up.)
For some reason the graphics really remind me of Spyro the Dragon for PS.
Thanks for asking. Our graphical look is somewhat similar to wow but so is most games coming out these days if you look at games like Runes of Magic, what makes us different and most games different is the game play . We have a robust class system where players can choose a certain class ( Affinity) and have the use of 4 skills associated to that class. But players can learn other skills from other classes as well to form hybrid classes. The skills you learn will allow you the use of abilities associated to that specific skill. Each time you use a ability you will gain experience and thus new ability's in that skill.
This is just one of the differences, we have more which will be revealed at a later stage.
Achh... classes. Still it sounds a bit more flexible than usual.
Playing: Xsyon.
Played:
Tried: Ultima Online, Everquest 2, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Flyff, Perfect World, Silkroad Online, EVE Online, Ryzom.
The class system is possibly at the limit of flexibility. Any further and there would be no point in having classes.
To explain this a bit further, choosing a certain affinity does not stop you in any way from learning the abilities of other affinities, it only encourages you to improve skills from your own affinity by making the cost slightly cheaper. This will allow players to create a unique build for their character, and as a result, the world will be filled with many different variations of characters.
I guess I am a bit biased, but I personally find the system very fun to work with.

First thing I want to ask, will there be an item mall? I'm automatically out. I have tried so many games and keep giving item malls a chance but they just unbalance off of those who don't use them.

I don't believe there are any plans for an item mall. I'm also pretty sure most of the team don't like them, so I can't see them being added.

What Affinity/ class would you play?
