Recommend a game for a broke wow player?

hash1hash1 Member Posts: 32

So im a wow addict but the 15 dollars a month plus 60 for both of the exspansions is retiring my wow life. Doesn't blizzard make enough money anyways lol.

Im also a retired diablo 2 player. And sadly use to play rs back in the day before jagex ruined it.

So if you have a good suggestion for me I would greatly appreciate it! Something preferrably free.

Thanks!

I would say 50% getting your real life in order (no offense intended, it's rough out there), and perhaps something like Perfect World (cheesy as hell) since it has a small client and runs well. If you are looking for something completely different, try Anarchy Online, Second Life (good luck).

You could try a wow free server, but they are *horrible* compared to live. Or you could always fire up an older game like Never Winter that always has an online presence somewhere. Good luck...

Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.

Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside

    Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.

    What he said.

It's a high quality game with a very active playerbase and frequent updates.

It's gotten to the point where some MMOs have been reduced to little more than success dispensers. Don't think. Don't challenge yourself. Do as little as possible... but still be rewarded for it. Yeah.. *that's* fun.

Guild Wars is only a one time fee.  You can pay $50 (total) to get all three campaigns, and then there's no monthly fee.  I guess you might also want to pay $20 to get the GWEN expansion eventually, but after that, you've got everything, and can play as long as you like and never pay another dime.

And more importantly, it's also a better game than WoW, unless you're in WoW's core demographic:  people with a lot of free time and not much skill, who therefore want winning to depend on spending time on the game rather than on the skill of the player.
