Not true, many companies put out free trials reguardless of how their game is doing. Blizzard has put out free trials for all their games I believe, and theirs are amongst the most successful around.
However, I somehow doubt we can expect the same for EQ2.
i think he means demo's of single player games which is completely different. i would not expect to see a free trial for EQ2 for years, probably quite a few... but, im not worried about that im going to buy it, and i plan on playing it for quite some time.
If you ask nicely, maybe they will put a Soandso 2.0 adventures for you!

No one specified MMO's. Games were said. MMO is one genre of game. Unless it is more specific than games it can be assumed that all games are included in the statement, and thus, are included in the replies to that statement.
It was said that only games which are doing bad have free trials(which is in fact what a demo is), so I simply pointed out the falsity of the statement.
I think that free trials are a little more mainstream and that EQ 2 will not wait years to have one. But at the same time I don`t expect one for several months.
Leaving aside mmo or not, of course a demo is not a trial. In a demo you can play some of the game all the time, 1 chapter or just multiplayer scenerios for example. While in a trial you can play full game just for a limited time. It's different, a different thing. Every damn non-mmo game has demo, so that we are talking about mmo games was, in fact, implied.
Most of the time free trials only come out if game is doign poorly.. or very well.. mmorpgs at least.. and either way it takes like a year of crappiness or a year of goodness :O

Free trials only come out if the game is doing badly. You likely wont see one for months. DAoC didnt have a free trial for 2 years :
At least that I didnt see.

Free trials occur when a game is in financial trouble. EQII, CoH, and FFXI are not in financial trouble.
