Darkfall Subcription Numbers

DethnobleDethnoble Member Posts: 419

I'm willing to bet that the subscription numbers, at this point in time, are around 15k to 25k.  Subscription numbers are higher than peak game numbers because not everyone is playing 24/7, they play much less than that.  Some of the more accepted numbers say that about 20% of the subscription number would be ingame on average.

Early numbers suggest that there were 5k people on at once in Darkfall, but the developers have said that their game can handle upto 10k users.  Currently, they are capping sales and such so I'm thinking that the number resides between 5k and 10k.  However, due ot the game being new you couldn't say between 25k and 50k because people will tend to play the game alot more and thus you'd have more people overlapping and on at the same time.  I'm willing to bet the game has at least 15k and probably resides around 20 to 25k subscribers.

They really need to get another server up and running, get more people going because i think this game could have a solid shot at 75k to 100k subscribers (plenty enough to be considered a highly successful MMO).

i highly doubt the game hasover 10k members. The game is still in its honeymoon phase so the people playing now are more likely to stick in more hours than norm. While they are selling subscriptions fast we dont even know how much are really being sold.

Av did make it clear they dont want to overpopulate their server. My guess is they are trying to hit that magic number still.

As for the servers. They do need more and work on thier customer service/sales. This game can easly attrack around 100k people who will dig the sandbox ffa pvp this game has to offer. Thay will make them very successful for the amount of money that was invested. However in its state we cannot consider it a success till they actually sell the damn game.

Although I agree that a bad launch can cause numerous players to turn and run..also never underestimate the MMO player's desire to find a game that is truely unique ..and far far from WoW

I would dig the game, if it truely is a 3D Runescape.

Also make it F2P, then BOOOOMMMMMMM this game would Blow Warhammer out the water. And Guild Wars.

And like Guild Wars and Runescape, they would still be able to make money, from box sells and Added member features.

Sound like a good idea to me.

Yes, absolutely dismal launch.  I mean, having people waiting to pounce on an available account for sale on the site, only for it to sell out in MINUTES is an absolute failure.  And we're not talking first day folks, people are STILL lined up.  Will it hit WoW numbers?  I hope not! But they are managing their market pretty well considering accounts are being sold for in excess of $600 US just so people don't have to try on a daily basis to get an account.  Imagine that! The demand has been FAR outweighing the supply.

Folks, get your heads out of your collective arses and either play the game, or go back to Hello Kitty and let the adults play in peace.

Anything F2P is horrible. Warhammer OK for what it is, but as an MMO goes, it's horrible, and to say anything F2P > Warhammer is.. lol.

Yes, please give me another game plagued with cash shops and the community that inhabits the F2P, and go ahead and infest it with even more bots, because that's always a cool thing.

I'd guess that there are currently around 14-15k suscribed to Darkfall.  10k of the initial pre-orders, 6k for the six days it's been on sale since, and minus 1/2k for the people who have cancelled due to billing issues and/or unsatisfactory gameplay.

If they really do increase the number of sales like they said they were going to do earlier today, then there might be 20-21k people suscribed by the end of the week.

    Wait wait wait Bro/Sistar

    Just think about it.

    Darkfall + Runescape = a Great MMO Experience .

It would have the Crafting of Runescape

And the Story lore of Runescape

But with all the PvP gameplay of Darkfall

and the 3D graphics of DarkFall.

And the Runescape elements could improve the PvE part of the game vastly.

    I think that's a pretty fair assesment.

I'd personally put it a few thousand less, because I don't think they managed to get 10k of the pre-orders processed correctly.

There are still a number of people complaining on the official boards of not being able to play (even though they pre-ordered and their CC was charged).  Some of those are now doing charge-backs on their CC's because they haven't been able to get a response from customer service after more than a week of trying.

One aspect that I find odd is that they have now turned off the ability to see the player count.  They had it there just a few days ago... but now it's been disabled.  Not a big deal in and of itself as most of the other MMOs don't allow for seeing the number of players either.   Just found it interesting.

Anyway, I'm happy for those that do manage to subscribe and find it to be the MMO they have been waiting for.    If Tasos ever follows through on his commitment to let the game speak for itself and allows Free Trials... I'll probably try it out for myself.

For now, I've seen enough from peaking over the shoulders of others to just be satisfied with having fun on these forums.

200+ votes on a poll already asking them to stop selling more copies, because of server queues. http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=154235

They shot themselves in the foot by not offering a trial to MMO fans already burned by other games. It will be interesting to see how many subscribers stick with them after the free month.

The next big thing is already around the corner and players will simply move on.

heheheh lol.. no all the fair weather rpgers are not gone!! We are here and waiting on the dust to settle, while reading some of these ridiculous posts!  Entertaining well enough though, I guess.  I will be looking now to get in game, but no rush, if they have ironed out the ordering process a lil bit and I can get through without a bunch of issues.. I will be in.. and that will be that! I will judge for myself... good or bad.. I will see...  that will be a step above some of the offerings in the past!

    fair weather rpgers???  wtf?

it's a game.  games are supposed to be fun.  games are supposed to be playable.

things games are NOT supposed to be:

    a job

    a boring grindfest

    a job

    a boring grindfest

don't really need to put anything other than those two items and list them a bunch.

I never played RuneScape. I watched my brother play it (very hardcore) for a year or so, but the crafting and storyline of it has no relevance to me in terms of if it was good or not. As far as Darkfall goes, the PVP gameplay doesn't look impressive. One button smashing, I'd rather have my AC twitch-based hardcore loot PVP, plus the animations and models from Darkfall are meh, the landscape is the only thing that looks decent.

So basically what you have is a very half-assed (and typical) MMO plagued with a cash shop, confused about whether it wants to be PVP or PVE and then comparisons from Darkfall and Runescape, which to me, are at the bottom of the bucket. Another very "red haired step-child" MMO.

This is not sounding like a fun hybrid game to me, brudda. Or sista. I understand your point, but those two games just weren't the examples you should of used ;)

    wtf?

seriously, you can't compare the lines/launch/numbers/whatever and make any REAL assessment.  how many copies did hellgate: london sell?  auto assault?  tabula rasa?    far far far far far more than darkfall has yet to sell.

yes, there's lines, because there's been like 10k copies sold.  wtf do you expect in a global market?  to sell 5k for any game?

speaking of growing up and adults -- learn da maths a little before getting on a high horse, willya?

YES, an mmo that ONLY sells 8-10k copies at launch and half of those can't even log in to play -- that IS a dismal launch, no sarcasm needed.

wtf are you going on about exactly?  other than you're impressed BY a dismal launch and dismal numbers for a BRAND NEW MMO...

Over the course of the next two to three months, I think they'll get at least one or two more stable servers up. It's very likely. I also agree that the amount of interest in the game is very high, and that the game is more than good enough to hold at least 100,000 concurent subscriptions.

Exactly that. Client is downloaded, installed and patched. I just need a key. There is no rush atm. But they will get my money. At least for one month.
