Hello all new to the site, not new to MMOGaming. Started in Guild Wars three years back, was an FPSer for years before that. Just thought I'd intro myself. Time to head over to the LFG message board, and post another "Which should I play?" thread.

While it's nice to say hello in real life when you meet someone a forum is more like going into gigantic room full of people talking and then screaming at the top of your lungs "hello!". While some may do it does feel very unnatural and makes you look like an attention whore (no offense). And that's the first impression people will get of you: the attention whore. And your, probably, first impression of me isn't either very positive I'd suppose. Therefore we can see that for both sides making these kind of posts is bad.
While what you say may very well be true from a certain perspective, most forums I have been to find it rude to just start jumping in and feeding off information before properly introducing yourself. Some, of which I have been a member of, even require that your first post be an introduction of some sorts. Actually, this has been the first forum I have been to where someone actually found it offensive. I guess politeness is lost in this day of technological advancement.

This place is a bit more "public" than fan boards. There really isn't any 'tight' community here you need to introduce yourself to. As such you will probably see more hostility than other places as well.

I don't, I usually move on, but lately OG's (original gamers) such as myself, have been sickened by the lack of community these days. This new generation of gamers have lost all respect.
To those who took this post for what it was I thank you for the warm welcome.
As for the rest of you more than half of you were probably not a glint in your momma's eye while I was staying up all hours trying to beat Pitfall II on the Atari 2600, or playing Hangman on the Magnavox Odyssey II. Man, I find more maturity at the Sesame Street message boards.
I appologise for the political talk, but you did have a politcal signature, which would seem to naturally cause someone to ask about your political affiliation. Just as your religious sig now would cause me to spark a conversation about your beliefs...or is that not allowed either. Seems hypocritical to not allow political discussions, but allow political signatures.
Just to clarify... We're all assholes here. We don't take it seriously... well at least I don't. We've all played our share of games and just like you have become disenchanted with the current state of the games so we come here and vent and bemoan the lack of community and the regression that seems to be taking effect. We end up venting on just about anybody we can get a hold of for no particular reason.
You seem offended and I wouldn't doubt that you have a valid reason, however had you come along a few years earlyer you might have become that which we have become. I would venture a guess and say you're well on your way.
