LOTRO since launch and still loving it.

  • neilh73neilh73 Member Posts: 239

I just quit AoC after playing since Beta, I'm not a fan of the direction Funcom are taking it with making it more gear-dependant.  As if we don't have enough gear-based treadmills (WoW, EQ/2 I'm looking at you).

Still playing EVE Online and enjoying it, I just love the freedom that the game offers.  I also picked up the EU Trial of WAR yesterday after saying I would never play the game due to High Fantasy burnout, but I just had to try the RvR.  Quite impressed so far, but its early days.

Non-MMO-wise, I'm playing through Mass Effect again with a few different charcaters.  I have played through that game several times already and unlocked all the achievements, but I'm back for more yet again, shows what a good game it really is.  I wonder if I'll get up to 30+ playthroughs like I did with KOTOR!

    MMORPG History:
    Playing - EVE Online.
Played (Retired) - AO, SWG, MxO, WoW, RFO, SoR, CoX, EQ2, GW, L2, Vanguard, LotRO, AoC, TCoS, Aion.
    Favourite MMO - Pre-CU SWG, 3 Years, 4 Accounts, 2 Pre-CU Jedi (1 Pre-9).
Awaiting - Star Wars: The Old Republic, The Secret World, Earthrise.

    How is DDO?

Isn't it like guild wars where its instances when you leave the citys?

I'm playing DDO and have a sub, though haven't played in months, to LOTRO.

Having not played Guild wars, I can't say exactly, but yes, DDO is mostly instanced.  There are outdoor "explorer areas" but they are instanced for your party [or yourself, if you solo].  I can only speak of the lower levels, but if you enjoy D&D as a mainly "hack n slash" game, then you should enjoy it.  Raids and crafting are only available at the upper levels.  I hope to see some crafting of consumibles at some point [since they have a lose experience algorythm already developed, though no longer used], but it is not on the near horizon.

Always the best advice:  Check to see if your machine meets the specs for it [almost all will], then download and play the trial.  There are a few limits placed on trial accounts to cut down on goldspammers, but I believe the grouping tools work even if /tell doesn't.

Global Agenda, it was Rappelz for a while but it was grindtastic. Tried WoW, but it just bored me.

Eq2 (since launch) I've tried most the other MMO's, VG, WAR, AoC, DnL, GW, WoW, Lotro, etc but I always end up canceling. None of them have the sticking power for me that eq2 has. The constant free content updates and easy of leveling are the main draw for me other than raiding. Raiding is my favorite part.

Playing WOW since WOTLK released. I rotate from WOW to LOTRO to EQ2 and back again. Tried, AOC but it was a couple months ago and i was one of those  that called it quits after Tortage. Waiting for the Star Wars and Star Trek releases for next year.

    Coh/v since 2005

Not the best MMP ever made, but atleast its not a WOW clone (Daoc, EQ2, War, DF, AOC) blah blah blah...

WAR for action, PvP and cool lore. EQ2 for the immersion, storyline and setting.

Checked AoC recently and decided to delete the game finally from my hard drive. Superb graphics is not enough to keep me playing...

Playing (grinding) Lotro while waiting for a good (not shit like darkfall) sandbox MMO. Dosnt have to be PvP, but must be sandbox.

  • DraklonDraklon Member UncommonPosts: 218

Does playing with myself count? No? Oh eeh... well then my answer would be Runes of Magic.

Getting a bit bored of MMO's in general but i think that might be related to not having been in a social guild since UO and start of WoW.

     Darkfall and EVE Online.

(Though I have been naughty and have not actually played EVE since DFO came out, just set a long skill...).

Warhammer Online...Great game, have several Order 30 lvls...Can't seem to make myself play on destruction's side. Maybe I should. Maybe should try something else...Like Darkfall?

And I should probably level my Minstrel from 30 to 60 too in case she is ever needed to help the Kinship. I don't dislike my Minnie but I don't love playing her like I love the Hunter, LM and Burg.
And I wanna try the RuneKeeper Class. If I ever get the frigging time LOL!
Okay I got 90 minutes till I go to work so I gotta go kill wargs in the Misty Mountains- cya!

ROFLMAO!!!  THAT......that sounds JUST like ME!

After 4 years of WoW overlapped with 2 years of EQ2 and 1 year of EVE.....I left ALL THREE SUBS to just be subbed to LotRO now.  Yes, I left many max level toons/characters behind to explore the WILDLY vast world of Middle Earth.  I've never "lived" anywhere more beautiful and more frightening in my MMO "career."

I'm so so into LotRO, that I have to remind myself to eat, sleep, work, shower, pee, and answer the phone (sometimes I blow off the phone...lol).

There is just so MUCH to do in LotRO and crafting is so much fun......grouping is NECESSARY (and FUN) and I have finally found my original LOVE for MMOs again.  I haven't enjoyed a game this much since Ultima Online.  The roleplaying community is a BLAST and the community overall is just far far far better than I found it to be in other "worlds."  And this is a world that I FEAR exploring, and yet I'm COMPELLED to explore!  I can spend HOURS discovering new things and places and the world just feels enormous.

I'm expecting I'll spend AT LEAST the next four years with Turbine. :D  YAY!!!

If you're ever on Vilya server.....come see a "Bards of a Feather" concert.  I'll be that adorable little hobbit in the purple feathered cap playing the lute, flute, bagpipes, theorbo, drums......you never know what I might be playing!  Our "band" performs all around Eriador.  I hope to see you at a concert. :)

    And as for kinships.......

HOORAY FOR WARDENS OF WESTMARCH!!  The best hobbit kinship in all the world.  =D
