Hello everyone

My PC is about to die, still on AMD dual core with DDR1, they didn't have DDR 2 then, hard drive is about topped and power supply is um... I don't know but it takes 7-8 attempts to turn the thing on now.

So I'm looking at a new system but actually leaning towards a laptop this time as there were too many times in the last year where I needed a computer but one wasn't handy.

I've got about 1500 Canadian (~1100 or so American).  Biggest and most memory use will be gaming, but still need all office application software for work and school.  So what would you suggest for a PC that I would build and a laptop.

Thank you much,

Venge Sunsoar

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is bad.

So for $1,100.00 you want both a laptop and desktop?  You aren't going to get much for either with that budget.

I am quite fond of the new ASUS laptops.  I am not really sure how the 9700M would run though.  The 9800M in the new G50VT-A1 is pretty fast.

think he is refering to seperate answers, one being for desktop and other if you recommend laptops what would that answer before it.... but not 1,100 USD for both (total)

psh, you can suggest a PC and a laptop for under $1500 Canadian.  Get an MSI Wind for $396, then get an HP desktop for $1000 bam you have it.  Infact here is a suggested pair.

    MSI Wind U-100, $396.49 Canadian

CyberPowerPC Gamer Infinity 9515, $937.49 Canadian

    Total: $1333.98 Canadian

And you can build your own better desktop for even less.  Also newegg.com does not ship to Canada.  You want to use newegg.ca

nvm as I just started researching the gtx280 is only good as the desktop 9800gtx..

I'd say try waiting until the ati mobility 4000 series..it will be the same power as the desktop..the highest coming out will be probalbly be a 4870
