So as the topic suggests I think this game is amazing, just one thing, its sooo freaking confusing! I am sorry but I can't work it, I LOVE IT, but this is so hard to work! I can't walk right, I have to hold the mouse button down and I do a wobbly all around sorta walk ^ ^  And I can't seem to get to my inventory, character screen, game options, map, ect ect. All I can do is open a meny that says "Chat, Item, Ability, ect" Is there an easier way to play this game on PC? I heard some people use controllers, I have one, how do I use it?

Plus the trial didn't come with manual.pdf or any such, so I am so lost as how to play this freaking game....good thing so far is the FFXI benchmark program gave me a rating in the 5000s, and I use a laptop, and that was on high resolution.

Edit: NVM I found an in-game manual. But still need to learn how to make it controller viable.

I personally knew the controls since it was an extrememly similar set up form FF7 and FF8 for PC. Just a pro-tip. Drop the mouse. You don't need it. Your number pad moves you with 8 4 6 and 2. Pressing 7 while moving foward (holding down 8) lets you go into auto run. Your arrow keys control your camera which if you have you hand in teh right spot puts those buttoms on your thumb. Your - opens your menu whee you will find all of those things you are looking for.

How does the level system work? Cause it looks like i can somehow level each of the base classes, even though I started out as a warrior....Cause I want to try RDM or BLM :D How would I switch, and if I switch does my warrior lose all its XP?

You can go to your Mog House to switch jobs whenever you want. You do not lose any of your XP when switching jobs but you do lose all your buffs(with a few exceptions such as: signet[or similar effects], anniversary ring, empress/emperor ring).

Your mog house is in the residential area in every main town. If you look at your map, you shouldn't have trouble finding it.

All you need to do in walk into your Mog House and talk to your Moogle for the first time and he will explain everything to you. Also there is a quest that they have added for n00bs that you can do by zoning out of one of the main cities:

Sandy: South San d'oria >> West Rounfue

Windy: Windurst Woods >> East Sarutabutara

Bastok: Bastok... Market >> South Gustaberg

This quest will teach you about checking mobs and using WSs and such. Also has some nice rewards such as a free exp ring and reraise earring (save this for when you need it for CoP quests ... trust me)

Actually ... here is a Link.

I just hit the edge of the screen with my mouse to move the view around, dont try and copy the R+hold to move as in other games. If you hit the * it  toggles auto target. If you take off auto target you can hit the edge of screen and look anywhere all around you, while AUTO is on however, you can only look a short distance to the left/right.Also by hitting the * to take off auto/target allows you to turn around and run if you desire.

As for movement i use the keyboard NUMPAD,i find it is the handiest .The menus are brought up by r-click the screen, once for first menu ,click a second time for the second set of menus. On the keypad your number "7" lol i think it was 7 or numlock allows for auto run,so you can type and run at same time. The / on same keypad puts you into a slow walk,i have never seen a need for it,but if your player gets messed up,that is the key to hit to get back to a normal run.The 0/ins on keypad is to toggle targets and the 9/3 moves your view in closer or further away,so you can see the KEYPAD is easily the best option as everything you need is right there.Grrr again my memory is shotty but i think it was enter then keypad ++ to bring up a full page view of your entire chat,in case you missed something ,you want to read again.

I found it moderately annoying at first ,but only took me a few days then it was like second nature. You really need to learn how to setup macros, maybe ask someone in game or try to find some info on the web.I can tell you how or type a couple examples ,if i knew what class you were playing?

BTW on the lower left of screen the chat icon can be entered/side scrolled to allow for different types of chat.If you hit the PARTY chat then enter,it will stay on the party chat, witch is default blue in colour.Sorry my memory is just brutal otherwise i could tell you the typed commands like i think it is something as CMD party   or CMD linkshell ,like i said memory fails me,i usually can figure it out in game anyhow.Green would be Linkshell colour ,so if nobody is hearing you perhaps you are not in normal chat or party, normal chat would be white /default.
