Looking for either F2P or P2P MMORPG

jetepilepsyjetepilepsy Member Posts: 27

My friend & I have been playing WoW for a while and would like to delve into something new. We've tried some things (EQ2, LotRO, Guild Wars), but can't find anything to keep us playing for a long time.

This is what we're looking for in a game:

  • WASD movement is an absolute must.

  • Decent graphics.

  • Lots to do, whether it be thru crafting or quests.

  • Decent character customization and variations of armor.

  • Doesn't matter if it's Sci-Fi or Fantasy, but needs to be more PvE than PvP based.

  • Preferably no cash shop.

Games we have already played for a while/tried:

  • World of Warcraft

  • Everquest II

  • Lord of the Rings Online

  • Guild Wars

  • Perfect World

  • Rohan

Also, looking for information on Runes of Magic, Warhammer, and the new LotRO xpac, if they are decent & fit the majority of our wants.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Jet.

Well currently I am playing EQ2 and WoW. However, my advice would be to either try EVE or Age of Conan. I have not tried either, but I have heard good things lately from both of them. Many people love EVE and it probably is a great game but I can not stand Sci-Fi so that is why I have never tried it. Recently AoC has been the talk of the town (besides DarkFall of course) I even thought about giving it a shot it is only 20$ now to get and that includes the free month you get. So just my 2 Cents. -a7Fold

If your a wow addicted like my self Atlantica wont even begin to cut it that game is horrible. Its a clone of final fantasy.

Just wanted to put that out there, you could try runes of magic.

From what you said, I really think that Vanguard might be to your liking. There is a ton to do in that game between leveling, questing, crafting, and diplomacy. The crafting bit is really well done.

If you are willing to wait a few month's you can try this when it's released.

Yeah, I tried Atlantica and didn't really dig it. The UI was really whack, imo.

Can you tell me more about Runes of Magic, though?

I would say Ryzom has everything you're looking for.  I just started playing it and it's satisfying all of my MMO needs.  It's currently F2P until sometime later this year, when they'll reinstate a monthly fee.  It has very unique lore, comfortable movement (wasd) and gameplay (familiar feeling), EXTREMELY in-depth skill system (Crafting and Harvesting are so expansive that they're counted among Fighting and Magic as primary skills!), interesting PvP (yet all consensual), and a large ever-changing world with a strong focus on PvE (like swarms of enemies attacking a city).  The graphic design is simply amazing.  Beautiful and unique.  Good music, too.

Give it a go!  Especially since it's free right now.
