Can't stand Blizzard customer service.

Blizzards customer service is bad my GF and I decided last night to finally put WoW to rest. Just can't take it anymore.

So looking now for a new MMORPG to play. Suggestions? Thinking of LOTRO.

Erm...just in case you hadn't noticed, this is a World of Warcraft forum! Why would you come here to ask for other games suggestions?

Why is their service bad? What have they done so wrong?

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.

it is a fact that blizzard customer service is one of the worst I have seen in a game. the GMs are fine and very nice to talk to, but the tech support and billing departments need a serious revamp. players shouldn't have to wait 2-3 weeks just to get an answer from blizzard after their account was locked. its truely a disgrace. anyway not much we can do, since they will always control the rulebook.

as for looking for a different mmo, yeah this is the wrong forum to ask. go to http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/forum/841/LFGame.html and make a thread there asking for a new game.

blizzard customers support might be slow at a times.. but still one of the best in genre.. gms are exeptional.. as long as you not moron, never had need for billing/whatnot support.. so yeh

you should saw lotro forums when it launched.. where ppl were complaining about theirs account banned/blocked or theirs country ip blocked from lotro servers, after paying lifetime suscribtion.. which was something as 200 bucks or whatnot.. so yeh , and noone could help..

if you have never needed to use the billing/customer support services then you can't really comment on whether they are good or bad. I don't know about US and asia, etc but the customer service in europe is unbelievable. go to the official or unofficial forums and you'll see how bad it is there. when patch 3.0 came out, loads of people (particularly on the cyclone battlegroup) couldn't log onto the game. when they called the tech support, they were told to speak to the GMs, which of course they couldn't do since they couldn't log on.

if you get hacked, and blizzard locks your account, you're looking at a wait of, on average, at least a month before you get your account back. and during this time you have to email blizzard every day and ring them constantly to get them to communicate with you. then once they have replied you have to give ID and wait another 2 or so weeks before they respond (probably telling you to send more ID). I know 1 person who had to fax over his birth cirtificate and driving licence before they unlocked his account. now to me, that doesn't sound like very good customer service. like I said, the GMs are amazingly helpful and great to talk to, but the rest is really out of shape.

I've known a few people who got their accounts hacked.  In every single case they were handled within a few days.  Sorry, but that is not to much to ask of a company to fix a players own mistake.  Don't like the wait time, then stop clicking on keyloggers.

As for the billing and account servives, I have had 3 situations with them.  Each one was under half an hour and I was all fixed.

GM's have responded to my requests in under 15 minutes each time.

I've seen games where ingame support has taken days, let alone web support that litterly never did anything past the form letter that is sent to acknowledge your ticket was received.

I've been very pleased with blizzards support, but I don't live in Europe.

I must live in the bizarro world when it comes to GMs. In EQ, I never had a negative encounter with a GM. In WoW, almost all GMs I encountered ranked somewhere between useless and fecal eating suction maggot. It's just odd because so many people report the opposite and I've heard a lot of good things about WoW's GM staff.

I didn't think Blizzard had anything to do with Billing or Account management in Europe or Asia. They are handled by the games local licensed operators.

WoW Europe is not licensed, it's run by Blizzard. But China is licenced to The9 and run by them.

I love Blizzard support. Me and my friends call the tech dept when were bored and talk about random shit. Their a couple workers their named dave and jessica that we ask for all the time. It's hillarious.

    I give no mercy

I had a problem with a compromised account.  Several thousand gold removed and a lot of bound and unbound items (especially on my single epic-geared raider) vendored over multiple servers.  It took about a day and a half, and some weird calls, to get it restored.  I think that was reasonable.

The one part I did not appreciate was the situation where one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.  Basically, my account got compromised (still trying to figure how, but that's not the point - I'll take responsibility if it makes people feel better) and at 8:20am I got an email on my phone notifying me that my password had been changed.  Well, I was at work and obviously had not changed my password, so I called the support line and explained the situation.  They said that they could lock the account until the afternoon when I'd be home and could contact them again. Fine I said.

During the day I received emails that the account had been temporarily locked due to breaking the economy rules (which I'm sure meant I was being used to spam gold sales...)

Later that afternoon, I got emails saying everything was back to normal...

Fine I think.  I login, everything is gone - ouch.  I leave a ticket with the GMs and leave for dinner.

While I'm at dinner I received an email from ANOTHER department telling me my account had been permanently banned for breaking the rules regarding the economy.  Now, I have made a lot of gold using the AH and Auctioneer data, but never did anything illegal... So I called and found myself in a catch-22:  The guys I called in billing were really nice and understanding, but they couldn't do anything about it.  They said I needed to talk to the GMs... who were... IN-GAME ONLY.... I emailed the GM address, and the message I got in reply said PLEASE CONTACT US IN GAME.  At this point, there was no way to talk to a human.  So I responded to the email with my case, and they reverted to email mode.

They did some research and unlocked my account.  Most of my stuff was restored, I asked them to review a bit more (since all my gold was still missing) and within half a day I got my gold back across all servers, and a few more items.

    --

In the middle of it I was kind of upset, but after the fact I was more appreciative of their "lock it down until we know why we should re-open this account" style.  They've got too many people to deal with to give the benefit of the doubt, and frankly most cases probably wouldn't get it anyway.  I was very thankful to get my (virtual) junk back.  The process could use a bit of re-engineering.

You always hear about the handful of bad experiences ... never the 1000's who had a good experience?

Been playing WoW for 4 years .. never had a reason to contact billing or CS as I protect my PC, dont buy gold, dont bot or share my account.

The few times I have spoken to a GM its been good, I once delete my beloved Zul'grub bow (pre TBC), popped a ticket and within 2 hours a GM appeared and told me my bow was waiting in the nearest mail box.

    What he said.

As much as I do not like WoW as a game I must say I have never hard any sort of problems with customer service. In fact, I was usually pleasantly surprised with how efficient they were.

Lotro on the other hand... (and this is why I'm even posting) still has issues. I have now been trying to reactivate my account for 8 days and nothing. Can't get the automated system to work, been emailing them every day, no answer. Sad thing is... i left Lotro in a CS related huff in the first place!

Guess my money isn't good enough for them!

That's strange OP. When I was playing WOW, their customer service was very good.

Blizzard customer support is horrific.  But maybe I am exaggerating as I have never encountered adequate support in any MMO.  Mythic is ok but they are slow.  Funcom's was probably the worst overall.

Blizzard billing is quick for simple functions but everything else is just sad.  The GMs are like 5 year olds who have been sniffing too many paint chips.  Maybe 1 out of 10 might know what they are talking about.  The rest are clueless.  90% of the time they can't do anything to help you.  Account admin reminds me of low-end Indian offshore centers.

And blizzard support is not slow at times, it is always slow with rare occasions of quick response & resolution.
