Anyone else having major problems?

I created my trial only yesterday and today I started playing EVE. Well, that was my intention. Ever since i downloaded the updated new client with the expansion, my life has been miserable trying to work this thing. I log on with my newly created character and I'm greeted with a black screen that simply has a bar saying "Loading navigation systems" and never gets beyond 80%. The first time I did this, my ship rendered horribly and there was a huge red line through it. The rest of the times were just black screens as I mentioned before.

Anyone having any problems connecting or playing? I know I picked a terrible time, as there's an influx of new players (considering one of these times the database died and the entire client reset), but I can't attribute the problems to anything but the surge of players. Is there anything actually truly wrong with my computer or is it just the increased activity over the new expansion?

    Not sure as to your problem as the line through the ship suggests to me an issue with your computer, but the loading issue sounds server side. I downloaded the trial a couple of days ago also and haven't had any problems like these at all. Sorry I couldn't be more help but hope this narrows it down a little.

    Some server stability issues do exsist but that sounds more like something Computer or Driver related issue. Best thing I could suggest is providing your system setup first.

    There's a pervasive lag issue right now--not due to the new players--but something to do with the exansion. The game has had many more people on concurrently than it does now and has been fine. But such major connection and graphical issues, I don't know.

    My bet would either be your system, or the expansion. And though they probably won't do it, it wouldn't hurt to ask them for some extra time for your trial since you're missing out on it being unable to play.

    Alright, thanks. I specifically quoted your section for this reason: who ever said I was a kid? Anyways, I have a Mac, do they historically have problems running EVE? And yes, it is an Intel. Should I update to latest drivers and all that? Would that do anything?

    well i was attempting to take a look at the free trial but i cant even get onto the main website anyone know anything about that?

    i'm also on a free trial. patching the game involved a 2gb download and lag has increased and there are some stability issues.

    I planned to subscribe but now I hesitate to do so. i used to play eve years ago and the past week has mostly been good. i will prob subscribe but I expected a smoother transition to apocrypha. hopefully the new few days will clear up the issues.

    While I have heard a few people complain about issues the vast majority of the people I know have done the upgrade with zero problems, including myself. Heck I am not even at home for this, on the road using crappy motel internet and my laptop and yet the game has worked without a hitch.

    So does anyone actually play on a Mac and can help diagnose my problem? The EVE support staff are practically useless for Macs. I do have an Intel-based computer with the proper amount of RAM, memory, etc. but this is quite annoying that I have no idea what's wrong.

    EDIT: S#17! Figured out what was wrong. I just looked up sys. requirements for EVE on a Mac and you have to have Leopard (10.5.6). I have Tiger (10.4.11). Probably some graphics thing, because I played the trial before on Tiger back when they didn't come out with Acrophya and it worked fine. Now my problems start with the release of the new expansion...

    other than some lag and rubberbanding, not having any other issues.

    Though yesterday they were having alot of database issues, the servers did go down 2 or 3 times yesterday for some maintenance. And as far as i can tell the eve forums are up.
