There are a lot of good servers out now since the clustering but expect the normal randomness to scenarios and orvr in terms of what kinds of skilled players you'll be fighting. On Dark Crag there are some pretty big guilds that run around together and run pre-mades so it's fun fighting something organized.
The combat mechanics have grown on me; still enjoy DAoC's interrupt code a bit more but theres plenty of dynamics and utility to WAR to take advantage of.
because pve was boring as hell,no one around..even on phoenix throne. pvp ,was meh ...sucked hard. lack of depth maybe. But i might ask,if it better then now? no sense of community too when ive left.
I don't know about PvE as I don't really do it. I would expect it to be rather empty on low-pop servers for obvious reasons, though.
PvP hasn't gotten more depth to it. It remains pretty "WoW-ish" at its core and will probably stay this way. The RvR dungeon should spice things up when it hits in June, but the basic gameplay remains the same.
As for no sense of community - do you mean "there's no one around" or are you looking for something else here, like "Realm pride"?
I'd say it's definiately worth playing now. I subscribed at launch but quit playing after my first month ended, however me and a couple of friends (re)subscribed about a month ago and I have to say that alot has changed in a really positive way!
RvR has evolved alot and is really tactic based and alive, I'd say that there are warbands from both sides running around and fighting for keeps almost all the time. I also rolled a choppa (which was launched with 1.2) and it's really fun to play it. The game isn't as buggy anymore and lag issues have become better.
But my biggest point is that RvR is amazing now since there are alot of players doing it all the time and good WB-leaders can keep it organized, fun and tactical, (at launch noone seemed to know what to do, due to obvious reasons of course..).

Depends on your reason for leaving.
