A new mmorpg is out in Korea. It's called RF Online. I read a news story that currently RF Online is 2nd in user preference in Korea only to Lineage (original Lineage... which, content-wise, is supposedly much bigger and better than Lineage 2, although I've never played the original). As most of you know, Korea has the biggest MMORPG populace out of any country in the world, to such an extent that original Lineage is currently the #1 selling MMORPG in the world. Lineage 2 was pretty but, much like a California Valley Girl, it was all looks without much upstairs. I have heard from some (whom will remain anonymous) that have risked faking a Korean SSN to sneak into the Korean Beta that have assured me this game is not much like Lineage 2 except in graphics and is alot of fun.
After seeing the RF Online trailer, I can honestly say I'm willing to risk another Korean-game-burn to play this for myself. It just looks freakin cool! However, currently it's only in a Korean Beta. I just heard a rumor that the company is thinking of creating an English release. So I guess only time will tell if that rumor is founded and we'll be seeing an English version of this game over here.

lol... you're expecting alot. I've yet to see a game that shows everything you can do in a game in a trailer video. All of them are flashy, those that aren't flat out CGI.

Well... not necessarily everything. just more than sitting and fighting (that's already assumed in every MMORPG). I can sit or I can fight. What would capture my interest is a video summing up the game's detail - all (or most) of its aspects. If you find another video that shows more to the game (or a korean translator) be sure to let me know.

Got 2 say this one the best games ever played, it is now out beta, and p2p in korra, it also now opened up in china, and is ment to be going english soon, jannary so herd. but may be some 1 from this web site could email them get a 100% date out them.
As the game has more action and fun, than any the others out could hope 2 have.
There is pvp battles ever 8hours, grafix is very good, and game runs very smoth.
I would say the game probly would be highest rate game on here, when looked at.
i honestly cant wait for this game. Mechs are my love. plus the game looks so awsome.

I don't know if it's a good news or bad news but according to a game sponsor here in philippines an english version of rf online will be release in september here in our country...
september..... 3more months....... I can't wait that long!!
I played the game in open-beta my in-game name was leader of Cora in the 11th server for couple of weeks till I stopped. ( because my korean credit card expired and I need to renew one when I return this July)
The game is really good in concept and eveything pretty much fits except the fact that the company lacks customer support and updates. Because the company lacked in "better" customer support and updates alot of ppl left. But the game is actually very fun.
If you ever get to the point of being top5 in the race ( which depends on ur RvR kill points RvR=Race vs. Race) you basically become one of five leaders, and lead a horde of ur race to "crystal wars".
There is a mine area that each of 3 races battle for every 8 hours. In order to obtain the protection of the guarian that spawns at the mine site, one of three races must fight until one of them first destroys the "crystal" thus called cyrstal wars.
And this crystal war is very very fun but annoying as h**l because lag is horrendous. Usually because there are thousands of ppl always at "crystals wars" to obtain the guardian. And the only mine in game is the one where u make all ur $ period. I mean u can farm to get drops but that helps to nothing when comparing to the upgrade gems and the price of minerals mined depending on the economic system that the game imploys.
The econmic system is bascially different price rates at which times the minerals cost certain prices depending on the frequent-ness of how long a race obtains the guardian after a crystal wars.
If one race consecutively wins the crystal wars, lets say 5times, then the price at which players of that race may sell the minerals to NPC decreases due to the abundant-ness of minerals.
The other unique thing about this game is the skill leveling system. Your defense rate for example does not go up because you gain a lvl. Your defense is based upon how many times you have been hit, and taken damage.
The more damage you take from mobs, and more often, your defense rate rises. Same with attack spells, regular hack and slash with swords, summons, and skills. IT is truly based upon time-grind then becomes skill. The game rewards those players who take the effort to grind period.
Uniqueness of this skill and leveling system also makes classes vary. You can be a Cora summor (wat I was) and learn magic spells, bow skills, sowrd skills and many other masteries. defense lvl for example on my 32 summor was 38, thxs to a week of only turning on my comp 24/7 getting hit by low lvl mobs 24/7 and packed with healing pots. (the average defense lvl for 32 summors would have been 16=18 lets say, so I had around 1.5k more hp, defense rate than other players)
This game...if you hate the grind...forget it...it's not ur game. I personally liked this game because it takes time...time...eating ur life away hehehe. If you never liked how L2 was a horrible grind...this game isn't any better. After you hit lvl 30...everything becomes a hell-bent GRIND.
But the game is actually fun...because no-matter who u are u can participate in crystal wars...
One last thing...there are no penalties for RvR and PvP don't exist. There are many many high lvl a**-holes in game from other races that come and annoy hunting grounds in other race occupied areas *which makes it fun for high-lvl and annoying for n00bs*
You get money too from killing other races...from the race goddess? I dun know...something like that... So RvR thing is everyday thing. It's really funny...doing guerilla s**t...it really really pisses of other races, when they obtain guardians...and other race guerillas rape them on their way to the mines. *used to kill other race lowbies all the time muahahaha*
Oh yea, you can't chat with other races in game either...what other races say comes out in weird letters and symbols.
Sometimes when one race monopolizes too much the Mines, then other two races team up and back stab you...:P
Classes are well balanced, the little dwarf looking race's armor robots may seem strong and a dis-advantage for other races, but they cost alot to repair and 1mil just to obtain one. And when they get destroyed in battle they're gone for good. You have to buy a new one. *not to mention you need to grind for armor robot mastery*
The cyborg or robot looking race have launchers which also do massive damages...
Cora * elf looking ppl* have summoners...there are 3 summons and you need to level and grind for masteries... <---- sux a**
These are the special classes unique to each race, then they have archers, warriors, crafters, and etc....
GRIND sucks? You wanna be max level in a month?
