Well, I'm TRYING to get back into the game but...

After downloading everything I need, the game won't patch itself for some reason. It patches anywhere from 0-6 MB of the 600+ it needs, and then just craps out on me gives me an Error 301 message saying it couldn't finish. I've already tried reinstalling, redownloading, and nothing works. Darkfall didn't work out, WAR sucks, WoW sucks, EQ has 900 expansions that continuously ruin the game, what's a guy to do?

Just keep trying. I had the same problem a half an hour ago. After about 10 tries it kept patching and I'm at 25% now.

Patcher died again. It must be having a bad day.

This is really wierd. The program just doesn't respond most of the time now after it tries to load the initial stuff, and the pictures in the patcher won't load. If I do a complete file check it doesn't crash, only when it tries to download the patch content.
I guess this is our problem Sevitoth. You and I are just killing their servers :P
I am experiencing the following error message when trying to download the latest patch: "Could not complete product update." What may be the problem?
If you experience this message along with an error 304, 305, 301 chances are your internet connection is just fine, when trying to patch from our servers. The problem is due to a large amount of people trying to connect to the patcher to download the latest patch. There is no real "fix" to this situation right now, except to keep trying and you will eventually get through.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
I think the patcher is having issues. I can download small bits of the patch at a time before it errors out. I would suggest trying again in a couple of hours.

I actually was trying last night, and had the same problem. Now it is kind of back to downloading a few MB before crashing upon itself again. This sucks. And I seriously hope it's because everyone is resubbing to the game. This is the only MMO out right now worth playing.
It's getting better. I'm getting 20-30 meg chunks at a time now. Only 190 megs to go.
It may be because they are releasing a patch tomorrow, and are doing something with the patch server. Just a guess. /shrug

It's still kind of hit and miss for me. I've still got over 500 to go. It'll do okay for awhile and get a bigger chunk like you've said, then for about 5-10 tries it'll get nothing.
I think there used to be this trick where you patch from the test servers rather then the normal client. It will download faster... supposedly... and will only leave you with a minor fix at the end. This way you can download the bulk of the patches faster and only have a miniscule download at the end.
Try that and see if it helps.

How would I do that?
When you install the game there should be a shortcut that starts the regular game and one that sends you to the test server, try the test server one and see if it patches better. If not go into the DAoC install folder and dig around in there. Give it a shot, some say this works and I never did it but I guess anything is worth a shot.
