Im a HUGE PvP fan,but even more of a RvR/GvG/Party v Party fan.I like good sized battles with 20+ people in them.How is this in this game?Ive playd DAoC,and Shadowbane,and it was pretty good in SB and great in DAoC.So how is it in this game?Are there alot of good sized battles and if so does it lag?Are they common,or rare?

**Edit-Well,this was kinda fun to read,so gather around grandpas chair everyone,and listen to some war storys!!

Bump. Im a big proponent of GvG/RvR as well. Let us know at the end of this weekend once the toons all level up to a reasonable degree. You know why games are so great, right? Human error!

Games have been entertaining ever since Eve got Adam to take a bite.

Its "unsatisfying" at the moment. I mean..you kill them, they come rezz at there corpse from a nearby graveyard, and start all over again until they have no durability left. Theres just no "goal" right now it seems.

However the implementation itself is quite fun. Just sucks that there is no motivation to PvP except to PvP.

Is there territory to gain or towns to gain?I was reading the War stories on the WoW site.

You CAN take over towns and raid cities but currently there isn't any reward at the moment except for boasting purposes. By retail though, the PvP system will be fully implemented and Honor will be in the game. Honor is gained through honorable (no griefing, ganking, etc.) PvP combat and can be used to buy special PvP titles and items.

Once PvP is fully implemented, it will give PvPers A LOT more to do.

They should make it so if your people raid and capture and town,then it decreases prices of items sold by NPC's throughout your kingdom due to the reasons such as trade/supply and demand,ect...

Same thing I said so I joined Alliance and only saw one Raid started so far but the guy trying to get it together could only get 6 of us....But that was one raid more then the horde had. When you do here about people attacking its only like 3 or 4 guys blah.

This is probably the most dissapointing thing for me right now in WOW, but its not Blizzards fault people just dont want to fight.... Why join a PVP server when your not going to PVP lol.. And dont tell me well its because of people being low lvls I have a lvl 11 toon in Horde land right now that I use him to kill some horde when the Pass by... Join TS 4 tonight around 2am EST and you might here about me.

Anyways I'm hating this right now since I long for some real PVP but hell you cant make these Carebears fight...Blah I need a PVP guild, people who are dedicated to Raiding and PVPing but alas there arent any that I have seen so far.

I hope your right and PVP picks up due to this, cause right now I feel like a one man army with only a few others scattered here and there that actually want to PVP.

The PvP in World of WarCraft is currently horrible. Hopefully it will improve with the coming battlefields, but I'm quite sceptical towards that. The current 100% durability penalty was also an extremely bad move when you take PvP in consideration.

First, they already announced its being reduced to 25%.

Second, in response to this entire thread: The reason noone is PvPing yet is their leveling their toons up as much as possible so they can pwn at pvp. There wont be serious PvP until near the end of OB and then you'll see a ton of raids from both sides... thats how it was in the ST. Everyone levelled up until the last day or two then it was all out war... alliance ended up capturing ratchet from us and attacked crossroads for hours... it was awesome. So dont you guys fret... PvP will pick up towards the end of OB and once there are alot of level 60's in retail, we'll be seeing some awesome PvP action.

Oh man, I was just part of a defensive unit to defend Darkshore (I am decided to go with my level 8 Nightelf Hunter just for fun) Ive never experienced something so much fun in an MMORPG.

My unit was heading to the grove of ancients (where they were last spotted), we began to position ourselves in the ruins, while keeping a clear view of South and East. As we are standing there waiting in night, we hear reports (reports meaning people screaming OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!1111) in Local Defense channel that they are heading towards the Bridge between Twilight Vale (Not sure) and Auderbine (again not certain of spelling) So we prepare for a battle with archers getting buffed and placing markmans targets on approaching enemies, etc etc.

We had a group of 30 infront of us (easy with thought), most being dmged heavily from our ranged attacks. Then the unexpected happened, from the trees behind us to side came out level 30-40 warriors (10 of em) and a couple of shamans. We got smoked. For the time it did last (5 minutes) I was definitely getting into the PvP. Although I could do much due to my level, it was amazing seeing everything and trying to help out. Theres nothing like seeing 100+ people going at it.

And my contribution to the defensive unit was! NOTHING! Humilated by the orcs just leaving me alone, but then to get my ass handed to me by a lvl 10 bear... Nonetheless it was AWESOME! Gunna try my best to get to level to 30+ just for this.

We had a minor incursion into Elwynn Forest this morning, it wasn't really that large of a raid party- only about 5-6 Horde (levels 18-21). We heard reports of people spotting them in the SouthWestern part of the forest, so myself and a few other level 12-14's strapped on our gear and headed out to defend our precious homeland.

On our way there, I saw several animal corpses lying around, and being the good hunter that I am- decided to skin them real quick on our way to meet these foes. Unfortunately, I fell behind the main group, who was now engaging the Hordies. I quickly gathered my skins and dashed to the aid of my comrades only to be raped by a named gnoll and a bunch of his buddies.

Luckily my friend was able to rez me on the outskirts of this skirmish that we had going on with the enemy. I bandaged myself up real quick and joined the fray, picking out an 18 Orc (shaman?) and sniping him from across the river. He quickly ducked behind a large boulder, so I had so swim through the river to get to him. On my way across the river I sicced my pet on him and then ran around the boulder, laying into him with my axe. We proceeded to play ring-around-the-rock, with him, just out of melee range, and with only about 3% HP. Then outta nowhere, my pet JUMPED UP on the boulder, then sprang from the top of it and mauled his face, killing him with one hit! hahaha

It was great and I couldn't stop laughing, we quickly mopped up the remaining hordies, then moved back to the other side of the river to give them a chance to rez and heal up.... not a very good idea. Without the element of suprise on our side, we didn't do too well against them the next time and ended up getting pwned pretty hard. Regardless, my friend and I had a great time fighting them and later trying to track them down by following the corpses of other Alliance characters through the forest, but somehow they got away.

A few minutes later, as we continued our search under the boughs of Elwynn Forest, we heard that there were some REAL high-level Hordies seen approaching the forest from the South West. Smart Dwarves don't stick around for that so we hopped the first tram outta town and went back to the safety of Ironforge gates to share some ale and hit on hottie Human and Night Elf ladies. Good times!

I'm looking for some friends that I lost contact with over the years...

You don't lose durability for dying in PvP...

Anyway, I had to help out my gf on her paladin quest and had to travel all the way to Silverpine Forest which we had no clue if it was contested area or not.. We then managed to get to southshore and at our surprise there was some groups of horde around and we fought for a while, there seem to be a little town for them nearby.

We decided to continue our way to Silverpine Forest, big surprise when we entered silverpine is that its horde territory!! We had to cross the hordes exp'ing in the area to get to an instance in a keep.

Ive yet to do my warrior quest in the barrens lol

It just seems like so natural you get to be part of the scenery for the other faction,most of the humans and alliance look alike mobs/npcs in horde are friendly to us which add alot to the immersion.

Good fun heh.

On Server 23 last night in Sentinel Hill, we decided that all the mobs quit working for Blizzard and walked off. SO, in the meantime for an hour it was really heated and we all started dueling. That was my first taste for PvP. We all dueled each other and it was awesome. I must say, the rogue is my favorite character. And I can now understand that every class is balanced. Rogues have their Gouge/Backstab, Paladins have their heals/dazed moves, warlocks have fear, mages have polymorph, hunters have thier pets that really get annoying, but I faired well with warriors and wasn't able to fight a preist or druid. The Paladins were the hardest though. For anyone that said they suck, I gotta tell yea it took a lot to take one out. I was unable to beat one with my 16 gnomish rogue. All I can say, the last couple days OB will be out, I'm going over to the Horde no matter what level I am and going to wreak midget havoc.

Cause, I did get some screenshots of that if it was the same thing...

My fun story was more of a silly thing, I've got an undead warrior and I decided to go to the NE main city, so after finally finding the boat and getting there, I have to run past 4 level 60 or so guards, into that portal. Once I'm up though I fell off the side of the tree and my body was half-way down and I couldn't revive that way. I had to use the soul guy and lost all my durability so I ran around Telldrasil naked taking screenshots trying to avoid the guards. Good fun.

I find that lacking motivaiton to PvP other than the purpose of pvpin in a BETA! is not a bad thing, because well whats the fun if you only get to play for smal lmaount of time if you cant experiment?

but i do have a war story...back in first stress test i had come down from ironforge as my dwarf hunter, i leave stormwind and what do i see? defense alert and a crap load of hoarde fighting a bunch of alliance...unfortunatly the horde lvls outdid the alliance a bit, but im proud to say i put a musket ball right between the eyes of a troll mage who tried to freeze me, not to mention a concusison shot at a taruens ass lol

Hah, no I think my server is Central PVP, not sure of number. Hah sounds fun, we had a level 50ish Orc running around in wild near Goldshire trying to stick it to all newbies. Funny stuff.

I've been looking and reading all these stories, a very interesting element. Of course its convinced me to give PVP a try when I buy WoW, I'm usally a hardcore RPer but I feel like giving this one a chance.

Well if you want a story here goes one

Well i was just wandering around exploring ( noticed that the game world really isnt the biggest ive ever seen )and i end up in stormwind and get drafted into what i think was the biggest raid battle on the server there was about 80-100 allience and we set off first to sentional hill where we met our first small challenge of maybe 10 horde that we mowed down in seconds and blaw blaw we end up in contested area and our group just runs everywhere everyone gets split up we regroup but there is no leader we were just a mob and anyway while we were marching somehow or another we go to a graveyard and get attacked by about 20 wolfs about lvl 30 1/4 of our raid dies but we got to the horde about 70 allience and 50-60 horde largest battle ive ever seen we push eachother back in forth trough zones for about 2 hours then i found out beta was ending met up with my guild we all sold our stuff and got tabards and spent the leftovers on lots of ale and duch til we got drunk. fun day to end the beta
