Imho a well done PvP system provides more fun and lasts longer as a well done PvE system. Plus fighting a human is better than an AI.

Personally, I much prefer pve, mainly as I like the challenge of working together with other people, cooperatively. I do pvp occasionally, and I much prefer pvp when it's faction v faction. I was a very big fan of the rvr in daoc, though war never grabbed me, simply as there was too much focus on the pvp.

Overall though, the pve is what will keep me going. pvp will always be a side interest for me. Partly as I'm not that good at it, but mostly as I just get more enjoyment working with other people than against them.

Pvp bores me, im to good at it.

PvE usually requires more than mad circle strafing skillz.

So my vote goes with PvE.

PVE. you can always pve but not pvp

I like both pretty equally, but they have to have some point to it.

Plunking down mobs and telling me to go kill them gets old pretty fast as does killing people just because.

If I am to PvE I need some reason, like an orc invasion or some mean guy in a cave to kill, so I prefer doing dungeons and quests, especially public quests, to flat out grinding.

Same for PvP, ther has to be a base to capture or something like that.

Not to say that my actions actions have to cause some change in the game, that is a nice bonus, but simply offering some point for me to do makes it more interesting.

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit

Only WoW has that problem and imo it kills combat when the only skill you need is good strafe skills and the ability to spam number keys 1-9 the fastest.

I prefer combat like EQ, ryzom and even WAR over that speed junkie mess.

Combat is supposed to be tactical not some crazy blitz of people circle strafing around each other.

AS for the topic of the thread, I prefer both as long as nerfing one class for pvp doesnt gimp him in pve.

    Playing: EvE, Ryzom

I have always felt that Raiding and instancing, thus PVE, is the most fun in games that I like to play. A well crafted PVE system will keep me coming back time and time again. It has allowed me to make friends and progress through content and spend countless hours whacking on monsters. I feel pvp is more of a fun side show of the main game. I feel if I want to pvp I can just go play Halo or Call of Duty. But that is just one honest mans opinion.

    Exactly.

Frankly, I think Everquest 1 had a just the right mix:  99% PVE, 1% PVP in the form of dueling and arenas.  Arena ground, should you ever step on it, was PVP soil and left you wide open to attack.

Heh, I remember rogues and parties going invisible, tossing a platinum coin on the ground in the center of an arena, then ambushing the first new player to innocently walk into the arena to pick it up.

My general experience with full range PVP games is everyone clamors for PVP, then bails when they get it.  Strafing, ganking, and being ganked can never compete for long with the community and cooperation of good PVE, and folks eventually migrate back to the latter.

I like the idea of both pve and pvp if they fit into the lore of the game and have a meaning. I prefer pve, I just find it more fun, but do enjoy pvp at times, like in duels or arenas.

PvP is less of a challenge than it is an impediment to creative content.

Too much of a PvP-focus diminishes the quality of PvE features, and MMORPG, dare I suggest, are more about PvE than PvP.

If anything, similar to raiding, I am eager for this industry to dump the PvP focus and return its attention to innovative PvE elements.

I Agree With you Declaredemer........ Run Lightning, and Death from above In bound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.
