As I was going through Star Wars items online at Walmart.com I came across this http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3219112 This is almost the same thing as it was listed all over in 2005 when the NGE hit! The publish date is Dec 2005. If this one does ring true then the NGE was made for console and nothing else in my opinon!
The key words here to look for is the release date on it !!! Preorder this item today and it should arrive on or just after 06/30/2009
Adding all the links I can find it for sale!

Lets also not forget Star Trek online going to console as well! Im sure more drastic changes will also be on there way like last time for the SWG player. I think SWG will be there test server for free realms before that goes on console with there TCG card game. If anyone can find more links or have a link please post it and ill add it to the list. The official boards locked a thread saying that its just a store using refresh on there inventory lol. I guess they refresh things every 4 years like this on all these stores lol!
Last update on this one from what im reading Sony has big news March 31 2009. I can speculate what it is but who knows I would say its the mark down of there ps3 in price. SOE regarding SWG also has some news coming out on the 31st as well since what I have read there are a few intreviews set up! I guess we have to wait 1 day on this one and what is true and what is not!

Lol. Well, the last time around, we were told this was a rumour, and the listing was removed. That's about the time we were told there was no starter kit too wasn't it? :P.
Heh, why would anyone buy a guide for this game, when they keep changing the rules?

It allready started http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/posts/list.m?topic_id=879334 There saying on the boards now that this is just being refreshed. The guy who posted it put in multiple links so it cant just be one store refreshing it. The last time it was refreshed was 2005 when it was published and we got the NGE and streamlined game. Thats been 3 years now and the game going to console was annouced long ago in 2003.
I think the main reason it was canned after the NGE was all the bad press the game got with the NGE and mustafar. They can denie it all they want but the game has allways been set for console. This makes why there consentration now is going to be on PVP and the GCW and the server transfers. I think the dead servers will be there console servers and this is also why legacy was never messed with after the NGE.
When rumors of the NGE first surfaced in August/Sept 2005, people speculated that SOE wanted to port it to the Playstation 2 due to its combat system (the dumb manual targeting and button mashing crap).

SWG will never have a console version. The game has a shrinking dev team and playerbase. They are reducing the resources they are investing in the product as it is (dev team memebers are leaving and not being replaced, which is not a good sign for the game's future, considering the already small dev team).
LEC is focused on TOR, and they really don't seem to care at all about SWG aty this point. The LEC producer used to do an interview every time a major publish was about to be released. It has been well over a year since that has occured. If anyone at LEC was paying even a little attention to SWG, the last two holiday events would have never made it past the concept stage. All anyone at LEC has to say about SWG anymore is that they don't currently intend to close the game when TOR launches.
SWG is a failed product. Neither SOE or LEC are willing to invest in expanding its failure to another platform.

When I started this search I would have had to agree with you on this one. After reading alot of links and so fourth 2009 is the year that game companies are pushing for console games including SOE. Most of there games that are set for console are not released yet as well. With the history of SOE and SWG this is now looking like to be more of a test game for there bigger releases. What exactly do they have to lose with SWG if it fails? Not to much the game has been dragged through the dirt multiple times and has allways been a test game for other games they had. SWG was allways set for console from the start as well. It looks like this will be there test game for TCG and for the other big release games. If it fails it fails no big loss and they can work out there bugs as well for there bigger release games before they come out this year to console.
The other scenario is that SWG is set for another big revamp or starter box like before when the NGE came out and same kind of news was also brought out to light. History shows that when info like this comes up the game gets dragged through the dirt!

Developing the console client and the console server architecture is a huge expense. SWG is too old, broken, and failed for either SOE or LEC to be willing to make such an investment. SOE is going to be going console on their future game, not their existing ones. If they were to port one of their existing games to a console, it would be one of the Everquest games.
SWG isn't going to see another revamp or be ported to the console because there is no chance that the money invested in doing either could ever be recouped. It is for that same reason why SWG will never see another expansion (and why the last expansion they were working on was canceled). Hell, LEC has so little faith in SWG's viability that they aren't even willing to print up CDs/DVDs or boxes (mainly because the 'complete' box sold so poorly).
SWG is only going to completely wither away until the decision is made to finally pull the plug (which will likely not be long after TOR is released). Current development has slowed, and the card game is basically a last ditch effort to squeeze as much as they can from the shrinking subscriber base.
SWG was intended to be ported to the XBox when it was announced. Prior to release, the console version was canceled. The idea to make a console version never got past the 'We won't say it will never happen, but we have no plans to do di currently' stage since then. The console guide listing has popped up on different sites since before SWG was released. It in no way indicates any intent past the initial, canceled, intent to make a console version of SWG. SWG will never have a console version. The idea was scrapped prior to the game's release. Prima registered an ISBN number for a console guide before the console version was scrapped (there was never a single line of code written for a console version as far as I'm aware), and they never bothered to cancel the registration (ISBN registrations auto-renew). Many Prima guides for canceled games are still listed all over the web.
Here is some basic questions I would like to know the answers to before I can put this to rest!
What is the real reason the NGE was created?
Why was Julio Torres brought onboard since all he sticks to is console games in the past?
Why was this book published in Dec 2005 1 month after the NGE if it was not set at that time for console?
I have also been looking for other prima's guides that also have set dates to be released that also keep getting refreshed. Please post other guides that were due out that also keep getting a refreshed date after 4 years!
If this game is living on life support and SOE and Lucas Arts are not looking into adding things then why did TCG card game get introduced? (Lucas Arts name is also all over it)
I have searched high and low and talked to many other players and companies for info on other prima guides that never got released and then refreshed like what they are saying here. I came up with no evidence to support this one being refreshed. What I did come up with with speaking with these companies is what they informed me that they dont refresh what is going out they just put up what the companies have listed and relese dates they have for companies like walmart.
So why now after 4 years prima strategy guides is telling walmart and a handful of other retailers that this will be getting shipped to there factories for a release date of 6/30/09??
Prima also added this as well!! Due out March 30 2009 Star Wars Galaxies Map Atlas (Expanded): Prima Official Game Guide http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3219113
If claims are going to be made that they are refreshing there stock and this is error I would like to see more evidence that this much is true. I really wont take any evidence from SOE either on this matter since the starter kit was also denied just like this is being denied by some.
Onto the sub issue and subs are to low for them to do this onewe can look at the past and see other games that did it with less subs then SWG has now and without a card game Phantasy Star and Final Fantasy. The name Star Wars alone sells and Lucas Arts and Sony both understand this one to well. The game long ago was stream lined as well. At this point in time I dont see why they wont milk it for everything it has left in it before its sunset. There allready milking it for every cent its worth buggy or not. Phantasy Star and Final Fantasy were also on the brink of sunset when they threw them onto council. If though there is evidence that this was Prima's mistake post it here and ill be happy to say this info is wrong and apoligize for it. I spent the time and effort to put this info up there so before im willing to admit that this is a mistake I would like to see other things that Prima has put out that were also mistakes like this or a official prima person admitting this is a mistake!
Let me also add this onto this post low subs?? Second Life im sure has less subs then SWG has currently and its also heading to console http://secondlife.reuters.com/stories/2006/11/29/nintendos-fils-aime-on-wii-and-second-life/ Console means more money and right now is there last chance to milk it for all its worth!
Im not here to stand behind any of these companies im just going on what is listed and what these companies are saying they stand behind. As for prima im trying to get right now to see if they stand behind the release of this guide. What im trying to do is find out the tructh behind all of this and get the info out there. As for the lies that SOE has stated to us in the past here is a good list of them http://www.rlmmo.com/viewtopic.php?t=424&start=0 The NGE boards have been wiped.
For streamlining the game I dont know how else to say it when the NGE hit and all that was lost skills prof etc! The post on second life was something I just ran across. I do apoligize for jumping on that game without really knowing the following behind them and subscriptions. Do I know that SWG is going to console? NO NOT AT ALL!!!!! Will I try to uncover were this orginated from? Yes by all means and if Prima stands behind this release date ill make sure to say something either way.
So basically im not standing behind anything here im just putting the info out to the public for the public to also help out to find the source of it and if its true or not true nothing else. Im sure my figures are wrong on alot of things espically sub levels on games. There has been so many times in the past with SOE that by digging through stuff things got uncovered before a release was official. This is the main reason of the post. Locating the source of the console guide that is listed is what im trying to find out. If Prima says this is what SOE and Lucas Arts told them to do on release dates of a console guide for SOE. Or the other way around were someone besides Prima decided to make up a release date and post it and others follow will also explain alot that its bogus.
The entire reason behind the post was to find out the truth in it and were this info actually came from and a set date nothing more!
maybe for the new starwars game but not this but you never do know?
Now why would SOE dump money into a game that is on life support? Because they always do the opposite of what conventional wisdom dictates.
it does make sense to shift swg over to a venue that wont directly compete with tor. Tor's not going to console, right?
I have no idea if it is, I have not been following that game at all, just to tired of disapointments.
I have to disagree with this Reklaw.
I cannot remember the guys name but someone from either SoE or LA that used to post here used one of those MMO population charts to make his point that thousands of people were leaving SWG. It would seem by that chart that the "exodus" resulted from the CU, and the population before the CU was actually pretty steady at about 250K.
My feeling is that that chart was likely pretty accurate if used by an insider to make his point.

I agree with what you said but when a game has sold 1.5 mil boxes and is left with only about 250 people playing which I feel was pretty accurate indeed is to me a hugh drop, okay I know many bought perhaps more then one box, but stil from my ingame experiance before the CU many where leaving, charts of no charts it is what I have experianced, and sure the NGE made that 250 drop even more......
Both the console guide, and the map atlas have release dates that coincide with the end of fiscal quarters, meaning they are not actual release dates, but a guess by the vendor as to when the product will be released (Walmart's web developer believes the Atlas will be released sometime in the second fiscal quarter of 2009, and the console guide in the third). It is simply a mislisting by Walmart, just like it was the last several times it was listed. It won't be released in June, nor will it be released any time after that.
I have to disagree with this Reklaw.

subs are relative. For example, I thought the population was fine on my server. The problem was their point of view of how many subs they should have considering the SOE/LA/star wars ip juggernaut combination and what WoW showed as being possible.
I don't think their intent was ever to stop the bleeding but rather increase the sub rate substantially. And a substantial increase in subscriptions means substantial changes. Even a tenth the subs of WoW probably would have been a success but they never even got close to that.
I have to disagree with this Reklaw.

That's a valid point, but I have to know the industry average of retention rate to really get an acurate picture of how SWG relates. Also I believe the actual announcement of 1 million boxes sold was pretty close to the CU (I'll try to find that announcement somewhere again). That implies to me a retention rate of 1 in 4, which really doesn't sound that bad to me - especially for a game that was released unfinished as well as poorly maintained.
The following is just a fairly solid memory, not anything I can attach names or dates to. I am very certain it was not an official company announcement, and pretty sure it didn't appear on any of SOE's forums.
I recall that a developer, or someone equally in a position to know, stated that work on a console version of NGE was put on "indefinate hiatus" after the subscription crash at the beginning of 2006.
I am wondering since Warhammer online didn't make it on the console, will they still try to publish SW:TOR on console?
Below is some info I found on it, but unsure if it's confirmed by now or completely from the table?
executive Frank Gibeau said his company is already looking at bringing BioWare and LucasArts' MMO to home video game consoles. Currently, he says EA is looking at the logistical aspects of building a console MMO, and that once research is complete, they will decide between their Star Wars and Warhammer properties. taken from > http://www.betanews.com/article/Star-Wars-MMORPG-announced-future-console-version-eyed/1224707747
"We've got this product, and we've got Warhammer at play," he continued, "So we're trying to look at the primary research required to understand how would you deploy it, what the client size looks like, how big is the back-end, what the play experience looks like... Once we've got some of those questions answered, we'll be able to decide which is the right play to go after." taken from > http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/console-star-wars-mmo-under-consideration-says-ea-exec

So thats another date that has not been listed either they gave me! Again the entire reason for this post was to find out the truth on who is putting 6/30/09 on guides for console release dates. Nothing more! It will be intresting to see what if anything comes out with the latest guide thats due out at the end of this month if that is also a guide on hold as well! Im just looking for who or what made this date up and to put this info out there for the public to see if any other info can be obtained.

the average (or aimed at ) initial retention rate some years ago was around 50%, not talking about SWG in particular but for mmorpgs in general around 2003. Eventually some one might counter this and state the 66% also used back then (2/3) , Yet the 66% margin was used as the most optimistic value.
Also notice that in 2000 to 2003 (coinciding with SWG development) the ideia of pay to play games wasn't that popular in the western world. Or at least was daced with some caution. There were not that many p2p games and the mmorpgs of that kind existing survived due to a "nerdy" segment of the videogame market.
