PvE vs PvP servers... Thoughts?

Im torn on which to choose.  I like the thought of PvP servers, but there seems to be a couple drawbacks (for me).  First, with no wipe, there are already 50's, and some are just waiting for that new level 15 to peek his/her head out from the city to pounce.  I can deal with that, but then with them getting a random item or two from my inventory...  ouch.

On the other hand, I fear that the PvE server would be to dull.  What PvP options exist for the PvE people, now and in the near future?

A fresh start pvp server would solve this whole problem or a wipe :)

current PVP options on PVE servers: almost the same as on the pvp servers really but it's optional so don't expect to pvp constantly on a PVE server. in fact originally there were never separate pvp servers planned for this game. they only exist because a group of tester insisted on having them! having said this a part of the pve population doesn't want to pvp, some see it as an occasional activity and only a hardcore group is constantly playing like they were playing as on a pvp server. as usual in this kind of setting more are looking for pvp the higher they are in level. those who are lvl 50/x are the most likely to have more pvp activities.

    - duel : can be anywhere anytime but you need to agree mutually

    - flag yourself for pvp: after lvl 15/15 you have the option to flag yourself meaning you're effectively playing pvp and signaling this to others who do the same (you can only attack those who also flagged themselves on the PVE servers). this is optional so you're not obliged to play pvp on the PVE servers at all. in fact it doesn't do a thing on the PVP servers last time i checked although the function is there too which is a bit confusing. the benefit then? well you can turn it off again whenever you don't feel like playing PVP on a PVE server (an option which does not exist on the pvp servers, you're able to pvp at any time there).

    - arena battles: 1vs1 (checked), 3vs3 (was mentioned just before they closed beta)

    - guild vs guild: not sure if it's implemented yet but check the official site because this could be any day now because the guild castles have been introduced and these will play a part in this according to the limited info beta tester have gotten about this.

    - server vs server:  little is know about it, just that it was mentioned in interviews with some community managers ... don't hold your breath just yet.

little warning: the developers were rebalancing the characters days before the release! this also means some of the gear of the PVP characters has become less effective and in some cases obsolete. expect more patches and spend wisely if you're going to use the cash shop.

ps: playing PVE you don't really need to spend anything as long as you spend a lot of time. reports from PVP servers indicate that there are some heavy spenders who do have an advantage, some say they manage without spending (expect them to have hardly have a life then if they're really good). this is overall a very time consuming game although you might not notice it if you only concentrate on leveling at the start.

PvP is you want to pwn with your credit card and broken class. PvE otherwise.

No new server will change that for any meaningfull amount of time. PvP players are rowdies of MMO scene, they get into news but are only harmfull for the game.

PvP ballancing is beyond pathetic, this game is even more PvE heavy than WoW ever was. From PvP perspective it is broken WoW with item loss.

I believe that was changed in the latest patch.  I remember reading something about players several (10?) levels below the attacker would not drop items on PvP death.  In fact, I believe they don't benefit one bit from killing a player that many levels below them.

don't listen to the PvE retards or the lvl20 that thinks you need to spend money to PvP on the PvP server.

PvP simply doesn't exist on the PvP server. The PvP system is so horribly broken that no one bothers. No one. Not only is it broken, but the only working part of the PvP system, the reputation bonuses.. they broke that 2 patches ago and didn't even manage to fix it for live.

The only difference between the PvP server and the PvE server is people are afraid to walk around with more than 8 pieces of gear on on the PvP server. Other than that.. same difference.

Thank you. Listen to how PvP rowdies judge lvl 50 PvE guy in top guild. You can expect no less respect from them for yourself.

Also the reason to go PvP server is, as he said, because PvP is broken and does not exist. Thank you.
