I have posted a couple times in this forum about darkfall and i have to say without the ability to either A. get the game in my posession and play it or B. at least a general statement as to when they will open their 'limited sales' i quickly find my interest waning.  That being said from what I have been reading I feel almost like they Have to start a new server just for game balance.  Basically they have the first server locked down since release with the first few waves of subscribers as well as all the exploits going on everywhere it feels like (and I hate to bring this into the equasion) they are doing something akin to letting people get a month long head start on the game.

The mantra everyone keeps repeating is 'give it a month or two to let thing settle out' but is that really the answer in a skill based game?  two months down the road the game will probably still be missing features and now you will be that much further behind the rest of the pack.

Realistically Ill buy the game when the store comes back and they will get my pound of flesh (or 50 dollars as it were) just so I can try it and validate some/most/all of my concerns, but I have little lasting hope for the game, which is unfortunate.

that being said if you have the game and any imput let me know

This really is not WoW/EQ where Gear makes the man. Here in eVE, the man with biggest balls, willing to risk the most, will win. It is risk/reward here- not always wear best items 24/7 and beat the crap out of all else.

Yes there are those that cheat, as in any online game I have ever played.

As far as a headstart, yes similar to being the newbie in any other MMO I have ever played.

A difference in Darkfall is that, you still have to be good enough to actually hit your target, so if you are good at games where you need to manually target, you will do well in Darkfall. If you are not good at that type of thing, no matter how many skill points/cheats/or whatever you have or use, you will probably still lose to those that are.

    My view, anyway.

I think you have to look to Eve for an example. In a level game you would be behind the pack because the artificial race to max level thing. In this game and in Eve it's less important to get there first.

I saw one guy on the forums that said it well. Your first week or so of play is rough, but it gets you to a level that is very competitive to the highest level players.

Even the stuff like cities and boats have shortcuts, i.e. pirates.

If the game is going to be successful then it's going to be a continuous battle and new players will be able to jump in the fight at any time.

They do need to open up a new server. The demand is there

I havnt had a problem with any cheaters. UNless you count 7 vs 1 cheating.

As for a head start, this is no different than if you went to a standard mainstream MMO a month after release, everyone is level 40 and your not.

except for in a standard mmo the release while most of the time is not well planned out the game is available for any who wish to purchase it

You will be behind the pack only during the beginning, as you get higher these differences tend to get very small. In that perspective noone should start playing Eve Online, which is skill-based and time-related.

This doesn't change the comparison between starting late in different games.  Regardless of the why, you're starting late.  It's no big deal.  What if you started on time and played 20 hours a week, but I start a month or two late and play 120 hours a week?  Eventually I'll surpass you in hours played.  Would you quit?

two things directed towards me to address.

    1. i did try eve and when i understood the skill system thats exactly why i dont play it.

    2. its more of an issue in a game like this if it is released and you wish to start playing on the 'leading edge' you wont have to deal with the greifers that will (and apparently already are) present in the game.  many of us that will try the game are going to get farmed one way or another which in turn limits our abilities to level
