I think more MMOs should have the option to make a fat character.
There's something cool about taking a big muscular dude out in pvp with a Fat guy with a sword that looks like the only thing he could beat down is a hambuger.
In AO I could make a big fat guy, more mmos should do this.
I say give us the option to be fat ass characters in all MMOs for comedy purposes if we like.
If i wanna make a fat, short warrior named bubba Steaks I should be able to.
what do you guys think?
Playing: EvE, Ryzom

LoL I personally like to make the shortest toon I can =P Something about a little "tank" type character that cracks me up.
I remember seeing a Fat jedi in SWG, WAY back pre-cu, it was the first person i'd ever seen do that
I would give anything to have a fat jedi named Milk Shake with a pink light saber.
Yes I know im strange.
Playing: EvE, Ryzom
haha, I can't remember the guys name, it was like Fatjoe, or Averagejoe, I think...but >.> he kept running around Coronet in spedo's
lol ((((:
fat guys in AO always made me chuckle! especually engies, cuz it made perfect sense (fat master controls bot to do his bidding, etc).
i agree with you OP, even though i don't like playing a fat character, i sure do enjoy seeing a wide variety of players.
I would want to make a fatter character, not for comedy purposes but I actually think a biker type fellow with a pot belly would look cool. So yeah I think it should be an option too.
But when I say fatter I don't mean a regular character where the stomach is protruded, I mean a completely different body model so that fat gathers like real fat. It seems when games let you customize your characters body it is really just proportioning the same body model differently so that everybody is just varients of the same musclely football holagan.
Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit
I agree that a lot of MMOs these days don't give you enough customization options when it comes to your avatar's body. Most only let you tweak the height a little bit, if anything. I'll never forget the kick I got in SWG when I made a short, over-weight Rodian named Lewie Skyjogger.
TBH, it seems like MMOs are kinda going in reverse as far as character customization. Older games seemed to give you a lot more options than a lot of the newer MMOs.

I would love the option to be able to PvP with a big fat toothless black woman called "Momma".
It would be fantastic to be able to gank preening pretty-boy knights with an avatar that looked like it came straight off the stage at Jerry Springer.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
I have to concur! Why not have the ability to make fat characters? It would be more believable than stock character models that look steroid-enhanced, as we get with many games today. I'm a big fan of character customization, and this is just one more aspect of that.
Hear hear, I agree.
And fat women too.
A big momma with a club would be great.
So... You basically want to play Rufus from Street Fighter 4.....
.... interesting....
I think the more customization the better... SWG did it best... it also lagged like hell at the time on my averageish system.
I dont like when people can make absolutely rediculous looking toons though... but I think maybe that should be handled with report functions rather then limiting the customization.

Aion,AoC,TR,WAR,EVE,BP,RIFT,WoW and others... no more!
I played a Female Dwarf Shadow Priest in Wow. People asked me why I would play such an ugly fat toon. My reply was always the same......How many do you see in this game?
She had black hair , blue eye and big hoops earings.

Hear hear. The mmo barbie deal is just another example of how immature the genre is.
Who plays games? Kids. What is an mmo? A Game. What do kids want? They want humanoid versions of my little pony with cristmas tree epaulets and weapons that spark. I think for more than one ceo, it's that simple really.
Asian market games are such an excellent example cuz they take it so far you even get the vaseline pr0n filter on the graphics depicting your pumpkin eye sized beauties. Sometimes I'm ashamed I play these games, I really am.
Shouldn't come as a surpise then really, how some, typically adolecent males, go abit overboard in their rebellion against the childishness of this beauty regime when they finally get a chance at murdering eachother and talking smack. Ugly on the inside. Unfortunately though, most games still depict them as chiselled greek gods and they have few alternatives. Not that I know they'd pick the alternatives, but I'm starting to rant.
I know I would.
I totally agree with this. The slider systems for character creation, instead of just changing cosmetic features on the same doll is the way to go. It's one of the reasons when you walk around games like WOW, there are pretty much 15 different kinds of looks, and that's all you see in the game. Maybe they do it just to make you want to raid the same dungeons 1000 times to get sets of gear to look different. But how different is it when the whole freakin game is doing the same thing to wear the same stuff?
/agree with OP.
I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.
Oh hellz yeah. In Shadowbane, character proportions altered with stat adjustments. I ended up with a short stocky barbarian, and my wife ended up with this towering Amazon-looking chick. Being able to custom tailor the character proportions also makes a lot more sense than the system a lot of the SOE game shave which is 53 sliders to adjust the only part of anyone's character that you rarely ever see.

Totally agree, deversity is the key, sick of living in a department store world, where everything is paper waist thin, there are one or two games out there that do let you do this already, EG; CoH/V, AO just to name two of them, but Mabinogi, acctualy has wieght and food rule's and if you eat to much or at the wrong time you get fat,( watch out for the cheese! ) also if you don't eat at all you starve and get skinny.
I wouldn't mind knowing what other games do this or have this sort of rule's, anyone know?
I like to play a female midget with a fat ass. Thats hot.
I agree I think there needs to be more customization of the avatar. Provided it doesn't detract from the polish of the finished product :-)
"but I'm starting to rant." No no your not, that started when you said," hear hear."
I totally agree about customization being a very important aspect of any MMO. Not to beat a dead horse, but that is one reason why I loved SWG (Star Wars Galaxies). You could change every aspect of your character and you could be as fat or skinny. In fact one of the actual professions in the game was I.D. which is now put in with the entertainer character in the game. So even after you created your character you could recreate anytime you wanted within your species that is. I still have yet to find an MMO out there with that level of choices. I don't like the greek god look of most games, or the cartoon look either. I want something that looks real but with many options. Same for the clothing. I want to wear armor when necessary and have normal clothing when I'm in town etc. I guess that's why I never stuck with WOW everyone wore the same thing and looked the same, how uneventful.
That's what I like about Aion. I like to see diversity and the ability to make your character unique in mmos. I hope Square Enix looks at Aion as example for character customization for "Rapture".
I am just going to have to jump on this bandwagon. I hardly ever really notice the color of someone else's character's eyes (a common, but mostly useless customization) , but if they were 4 feet tall and 300 pounds, I'd recognize that character from a distance.
I am always in favor of more options.

CoH had a lot of big round tankers running around. Midgets were really popular too.
There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.

In Project Vex, your physical appearance is linked to your Physical Attributes. To create a fat character, select a low Agility score and fairly low Vitality score. You then have the option of making your character appear fat, among other variations of phenotype. Note: You may be both fat and strong at the same time.
Basically, each attribute has thresholds of variation for affecting the overall look of your character. The other two Attribute groups (Mind and Spirit) also can create opportunities for unique character appearances.

I remember playing Vanguard in beta and they ahd a pretty good character creator at that time....i made a half giant shaman that was butt ugly and had a huge gut........It was quite humorous because alot of players had very unique looking characters but apparently it ofended some and they took away the excessive variation in character creation.
