I find it odd that both Darkfall and Mortal Online chose to release beta sign-ups and gameplay video concurrently. I had also heard rumors in the past that StarVault "stole" some developers from Razorwax/Aventurine (probably the guys saw they were more professional).
And wondering...could some key developers behind both game concepts (Darkfall and MO) actually have some sort of common background (they are all from Scandinavia, after all)? For example, the "hacking" attempt at Darkfall servers back in 2003 (iirc)...Razorwax shutting down and being bought by Aventurine afterwards....all at the time Mortal Online was put on paper as concept...
I had this wild speculation that, somehow, StarVault took the bestr staff from Razorwax and let them in the cold...it's as if the people that knew how to make such a sandbox game suddenly left and Razorwax/Aventurine had to find out a way to continue with the project and not cancel it...
(there's no other way to explain how crap Darkfall turned out to be - and the delay in its launch).

It could very well be. If I imagine being a dev and having to work for years at an end on a single project for an indy company, the first thing I would want to be sure of is whether the team and the directors are doing the right thing. You wouldn't want to be working on something for years and years and see the concept mutilated by bad management or design decisions. And god forbid working on a game like that and seeing it cancelled. The fear of a title turning out to be 'vapor ware' is probably the most justified for devs themselves.
If AV handles their employees like they have treated their customers (bad communication, for one) there might have been more than one good reason for devs to jump ship.
My brand new bloggity blog.
That and we have Tasos for Darkfall and Talos as the community manager for Mortal online. Suspicious . . .

/facepalm........some people really need to get laid
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
You have totally no clue. Darkfall talked about beta signups since ages go, the fact that the beta only begun recently is only due do their unending delays, whilst Mortal Online strictly followed its public timeline up until now
Should be clear enough. And besides, every Razorwax employee (they were only five, check Wikipedia) was transported to Aventurine. No Razorwax developers went to Starvault, and none of Aventurine for that matter.
Some of Starvault developers had experience with working on Ground Control II or other titles, but that's it.
There is no connection between Darkfall and Mortal Online besides some generic sandbox, Open PvP concepts...And it clearly shows; about explaining the crap Darkfall turned out to be, and its delay, I suggest to look at the difference between their engine and the one Starvault is using.

Maybe what I just wrote about?

Indeed, some people are a bit nutty
I am simply speculating; you are being affirmative, without any evidence whatsoever. You could at least allow for some doubt...
Blessed is the mind too small for doubt
I don't agree, but that fit nicely. touche.
If you’re looking for similarities I’d say that you could find more similarities between MO and Mourning. You know the scam masters! Just go at MO main page and click on GNOME. This will take you to Quadsoftware (http://www.quadsoftware.com/) which is the very same company that it was developing “Thones of Scamming” and “Mourning”, or “insert scam game name here”.
Since I also enjoying speculating, I would say that the best scammers from the original Mourning Team are now working with Star Vault in producing a new scam. Spend some time on Quadsoftware ( a company that is also based in Romania) and let me know your thoughts..
I say - lay off the drugs and just stop thinking. Please.
Starvault is registered on the swedish stockmarket. If they ever scam their customers, they would lose their entire capital.
You come off sounding a bit nutty
This near the same post that got Jento banned from the official forums.

You just quoted the section where he gave you a string of facts and sources for that information and then responded with "you are being affirmative, without any evidence whatsoever."
Classic.
- RPG Quiz - can you get all 25 right?
- FPS Quiz - how well do you know your shooters?
Then exactly how do you explain the fact that Gnome, a Romanian Company, was involved in the development of Mourning, and Age of Scamming/Mourning and MO?
I’m not implying that Starvault is planning to scum somebody… I’m only suggesting that they’ve could have been scammed by the Mourning Mafia!
But then of cause you don’t answer my question… Check this link: http://www.quadsoftware.com/index.php?m=section&sec=contact

Your posts come dangerously close to libel/slander/harassment/trolling/etc.
I have reported them as such.

Have a nice day!
Who gives a shit about either one of these fail fantasy sandboxes.
Earthrise is where it's at. Careful, Bulgaria is going to sneak up behind y'all and rape you with an awesome MMO.
As for the OP, MO is newer than Darkfall so don't worry about any secret conspiracies.

Haha, I know, damn funny.
Yeah right, no evidence...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkfall
The Razorwax development team was based in Oslo, Norway, and initially consisted of five members: Claus Grovdal (Lead Design and Producer), Ricki Sickenger (Lead Tools and Game Logic Programmer), Henning Ludvigsen (Art Director), Kjetil Helland (Lead 3D/Client Programmer), and Erik Sperling Johansen (Lead Server Programmer). Approximately 14 months later, in October 2002, the Razorwax team was integrated into Aventurine SA, a newly-formed company based in Athens, Greece, ostensibly created for the continued development and subsequent commercialisation of Darkfall [4]. When the Razorwax team and the Aventurine team had their first meeting in Athens, a member of one of the teams joked that Razorwax should relocate from Norway to Greece due to the lower taxes and cost of living in Greece. Eventually, the two teams realised that this idea actually made very good business sense,[5] and by December 2002,[6] the relocation of Razorwax, now Aventurine, was finalised.

Well the group that all started Darkfall Claus leadesigner and came up with idea making darkfall kjetil and some other norwegians from beginng are all still with aventurine so dont see your point here?
Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009.....
In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.
I'm sorry.. But what does this have to do with Mortal Online? It's not a company from either Greece nor Norway. So where's the point with this jabbering?
It went rather downhill pretty fast from being the "similarities" with Mo and Df (which in companywise there's barely any. And people tend to say that Av is scamming, how come they are still holding it up?) Oh well, have fun with your ranting about stuff that doesn't matter.
The speed of the mole and the power of steel is my weapon
I think you missed the point here; I'm not saying that MO is a scam, or that they took over Razorwax when it disbanbded. I'm simply speculating that perhaps some of the team staff previously working on darkfall was hired by Starvault. Perhaps. I myself give small chances to this, when saying I have a "wild speculation".
You are taking this too seriously, and I don't know why with such hostility. This was meant as a casual "post your theory" thread, not a flame war between MO and DF...
