Does anyone know if subscribing via the coins will activate your account as well, or is the only way to wait for the random limited activation each day. I'd rather not have my premium time ticking away while I can't access the game, so I don't want to investigate this myself. Was hoping someone else might know.

Just let me see if I got this right,
$10us for silver membership, which gives you 30% off when buying Aclaim coins
which means you need to buy the 2240 coins deal at $21au,
becuase you need 1500 min for 30 day's game play on preimum play minumum,
leaves 740 coins spare
or
no silver membership, which means $30 for 2240 coins
so all up I ether way it's $30 appox for 1500 coin's = 30days preimum play + 740 coins spare
is that right?
according to this spellborn.acclaim.com/keypurchase.html, subscribing via coins is basically the only way to go. there's no other method of buying game time as it seems (well, there are few payment methods *to buy coins*, but getting coins is a must).
annoyingly, there's no way of getting exactly 1500 coins (the amount required for 30 days of game-time) in one bulk. you have to buy a higher amount of coins, which costs more than the usual 15$ per month of most MMOs, but this leaves you with spare coins like the guy above me said.
the acclaim membership subscription *can be* nice, but it costs money and it just gives you a discount. quite useless IMO unless you plan on playing for a long time.
CHEAPEST way of buying coins is using the phone/cellphone method. it costs 5$ per 500 coins, which means you can do it 3 times for 1500 coins, and it should cost you 15$.

Fortunately, the whole coin thing is only temporary until they get the subs going at the official launch. This doesn't quite answer my question though. At the moment, the only people who can play either have to activate their beta account (which is currently "closed for the day") or were already accepted into closed. Mine was listed as "pending" as of closed beta /=. Basically, I'm wondering if subscribing with the coins will activate it or not. I'm planning on subbing regardless, I just don't want to start my sub, and waste days that I can't access it because it's not activated.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend the Acclaim "membership" thing.

as per the Official forums I think it was said that No amount of currency will let you in any sooner.
oh, i see. well, subscribing won't solve your issue. you may want to check with the official forum for an answer (phpbb.acclaim.com/spellborn/viewforum.php). i managed to activate mine yesterday, and it changed from "pending" to "active", so it's definitely not a subscription issue. open beta seems to have limited slots per day, so i'm guessing you tried to activate your account when the slots reached the limit.
if you don't find/get an answer from the official forum, i'd wait to tomorrow to try and activate again.

dont give them anything yet,even if you do get a spot. some people that have activated their months sub still arent able to level past the freemium part. best just to wait a few days or even better head over and play on the EU servers where you can use the shocking method of paying with a credit card rather than piddling around with coin packages.
After reviewing the payment options and the resultant confusion expressed by many in these forums and the official forums I predict acclaim will screw an otherwise successful open beta due to their total lack of common sense, therefore losing customers temporarily if not forever.
Why the hell do we need these ridiculous coins? I know they publish 2moons and its f2p but why use a f2p method for what is a p2p game? Does TCOS have an item mall? Its my understanding that it doesn't.
Fifteen bucks is fifteen bucks. Why do we need anything other than that?

yes I have changed it, I am now doing a full download of the acclaim binary set, to see if that fixes it.

For those of you who want to try the game out, and do not want to deal with Acclaim, or those of you who tried the EU servers, my advice is go try the EU servers. Acclaim is tearing down what could of been a very successful niche title.
Seconded. Damn Acclaim been spaming my email since I tried 2moons, and canceled their newsletter etc.

I hopped on the EU servers a bit ago. Community was nice, and overall it was pretty good times. Acclaim however, I have always had severe reservations about /=. That being said, I was able to login no problem on the first try (they updated their website to say activation is no longer required as well now) but I don't have time to play at the moment or see if the coins thing works correctly as well. The coin thing is only temporary, and I can see why they would use it to get the game going until regular subscriptions could be setup, but it does suck, because like all "coin" systems, they're pretty scammy and well planned out so that you only get JUST enough fall short of things you need to buy and have coins left over. I'm just going to tough it out and be freaking happy when it's replaced and gone.

I can't play anymore since I ran into a super error
Somehow I can chat all day long, click buttons forever and a day but it blatently REFUSES to let me move or interact with NPCs with my mouse so until their slug speed techies get on and see it I'm screwed.
I was going to try this game out until i checked out the scam they have going with subscriptions. Theres no way on earth i would play a game run by a company trying to pull off shady bs like this one is doing with their "acclaim coins"

I just saw this on fileplanet not more than 5 minutes ago...i clicked the link and signed up and created an account...am now D/L'n the game.
After reading this about activating accounts etc i zipped over to acclaim and looked at my new account and it says my subscription was active for this game. Are you all telling me you can't activate an account? How was i able to get one so quick and easy?
I was playing earlier I got a lvl 5 Warrior soon to be lvl 5 Wrathguard but I ran into a big issue where the game had crashed on me and then when I returned it wouldn't let me move anymore. I could chat just fine but couldn't move at all and no it wasn't lag lol you won't find much of the killer MMO lag in this MMO
After 7.9 (right before 8) your free trial is over
There really isn't an OB for the most common sense of the term it's really a free trial to lvl 8 since 8+ is only for Premium Subs.
and atm Premium Sub is 1500 Acclaim Coins they're working on CC Support soonish according to the Official Forums
If youre currently downloading the acclaim vrsion,stop now and save yourself the hassle. Just get the frogster one instead. Acclaims servers are full of 9dragons teenagers spamming "WTF WERE ARE WOLFS???!!!".
The whole coins situation because they havent got a CC option up yet (theyve had almost 4 months) is just ridiculous,its like they want to kill any remaining interest off. On top of that theyve advertised an OPEN BETA which is under the rules of the ftp release part,and to go any further you have to pay a confusing sub featuring phone lines,coins and all manner of crapness. Now people are obviously viewing the whole thing as a paid beta,way to go Acclaim.

How populated is the Euro servers anyway? I havent payed to get past level 7 yet so I cant really tell if im going into a ghost town or not :P

People are beginning to move over there I think. Theres a few posts in the acclaim boards about it,so im going to download the frogster one and see what its like.
The EU community was pretty cool, but I don't want to deal with getting around the block right now until its released. I'm hoping you can just escape the F2P kiddies by getting beyond level 8 and fleeing from the zone at full speed. It should cool down once the other Acclaim players realize the game isn't F2P and bail.

Supposedly, the EU servers are no longer IP blocked.
At 1am GMT last night,there were lots of people playing on the EU servers.I must have seen 15 different people in hawkslanding alone,so the EU pop is definately growing considering their probably werent 15 people on the entire server a few months ago
I'm getting a little confused here, so depending on where you download the game from depends on what servers you get to choose from ?... Or it doesnt matter and you have the same choice in servers despite where you got the game from ?
