You need 1500 coins to activate or subscribe. If you pay for this many it's 30 bucks.
You buy a membership which is 10 bucks and you can get a 30% discount which makes your subscription cost 25 bucks...each month.
This allows you to play past lvl 7.
Now the game is fun. It's well made with just a few bugs visible for those first 7 levels. But no way in hell is this game worth 25 dollars a month.
Acclaim must really have it's head up it's butt if they think people are going to pay that who aren't rich or clinically bored. 25 bucks a month for something that's still in beta. By the way it's open beta but you still have to pay to play past lvl 7.
So for the moment it's a paid beta game. A 25 dollar a month paid beta game.

yup. I stopped my download once I read the part where you gotta pay to play beta.. I think they are out of their fcking minds.
You're wrong in more ways than one.
I just subscribed and it cost me $20 to get the amount of coins. If you do it over the phone, you can get exactly 1,500 coins for $14.97. Keep in mind if you buy the $20 like me, you have 600 coins left over for the next month. Meaning I'll spend around $10 for my second month. Also, they're getting ready to introduce monthly subscriptions via credit card.
Also, the game is in "beta phase" but there will not be a wipe. If you subscribe, this character is good through launch, meaning it launched for anyone paying. The game has been launched in other countries, this beta is for stress testing as been said. The game is good as launched, you aren't paying for the beta. You're paying for launch.
And you don't have to pay for beta, it caps @ level 7 for free. Or you can just skip Acclaim and go play on the other publisher's servers, which have regular credit card subscriptions.
Some of the many things wrong with that argument.
1: You're not FORCED to buy the Acclaim subscription. In fact, since they're getting rid of the coins later, it would be rather dumb if TCOS is all you're using it for.
2: You can get batches of 500 over the phone right now, which will get you the 500 without having to spend a dime extra.
3: If you wanted to spend the absolute minimum extra and ONLY use the online purchasing, you can get 1005 and 2010 for $30 which would leave you with only 15coins left over after buying two months. 15 coins is less than a cent.
The coins are only temporary and it's going to be about $15 when it switches over to subscription.
I don't like the coins thing right now any more than you do, but don't be sensationalist.

from what i understand - the non acclaim areas get this game for free and pay the usual montly fee to go past level 7

The game isn't F2P. You can play it to level 7 as a trial. If you want to play beyond that or "sub up" as it were, you have to pay the standard monthly fee. I really don't understand why this is so hard for everyone /=.

Learn to read. He didn't say anything about it being FTP.

others posters pointed out it ends up as 15 bucks, if your not numbskull
so you still dont have to buy game..

you could of course do the sensible thing and avoid the acclaim version altogether and play the frogster version,skipping past acclaims retardedness. its $15 a month to play btw,not $25 its just acclaim trying to milk every last drop of cash by offering an arse backwards method of payment,because 4 months wsnt long enough time for them to set up a CC option.

Acclaim is introducing a CC payment option which will be $15 a month according to the webinat they had on Friday.
Well well it all started with Darkfall where people will pay to play BETA regardless of what the condtion the game is in. Now the game makers knows that they can make money off of players in pay to play beta..And who fault is it?Well it is the players who had to have the said game and went pay to play beta..Games were once free to play betas are now turning to pay to play beta instead..To really be sensible! Do NOT fall for the Pay to play beta regardless of how good the game might be..Keep the beta test free like it should be!

This game is actully worth the payment as im premium and enjoying it so much, i love how you can put on good armor from start and uses aim and left click to use the quick belt, makes wow look like it was made 70 yrs ago.

I guess I'm confused, lol. I just joined the beta...so are you saying that after level 7 we can purchase the full working game, and play for $15 a month? The USA players?
Here's a thought ... play RoM (Runes of Magic) instead. It's F2P and prolly better.

first off runes of magic is not very good and just a cheap WoW knockoff. Secondly the game per month is 14.97. Where the hell did this guy get the $25 a month from. Just read the main website.

with the ip ban gone you can decide whom to give your money to.
i play tcos for 3 month now on a frogster (one of the euro publisher) server and im pretty happy with their community work (regular updates, competitions, events).
on the other hand acclaim has less servers atm and a bigger player base so their servers starting areas are a lot more lively the on the international eu server, but maybe that will change as well.
all in all i rather see the positive side not having to buy a box for 30+ $ like i did with conan and war (and some others) but to just pay my $15euro monthly as long as i enjoy the game

If you use the pay by phone method you can get the game for around 15 dollars a month.
They have said they are working on a credit card method of payment.
Lets not think about the fact they've had going on 5 months to get a credit card payment method up and running.

heh, welcome to mmorpg.com forums, where informed objective opinion means nothing against BS cliched uninformed trollhate. Everyone here is an expert on every game, even if they know nothing of it ~
If they have never played it and no nothing of it, the default stance to take is 'it suks'. It's better then admitting they know nothing and should just stfu.
Honestly, 90% of what you read here is just white noise. Just ignore them. You have to read a lot of rubbish to find the true signal.

Yeah, I know vesavius. I've been posting on an off on these forums for awhile. LOL, it just seems that trolling is the main focus of these boards now a days.
Anyways, I seen you posted a review in another thread, so maybe you could answer my question. Or was your review about the European server?
I play both. RoM is a good game, not a mainstream game but better quality and performance than Darkfall, for example.
About Spellborn, if you want to play in the Acclaim publisher you must buy the silver membership, that is only 10 bucks per month.
I hope you've got an answer here.
