Installed and tried to play, but it doesn't work with Windows 7. :(

Guess I'll have to wait to try it until GameGuard gets updated to work on 7. But they mentioned they won't fix it until Windows 7 goes live.

Glad you posted this, because it will keep me from upgrading to Windows 7 until I know it's not going to cause me a lot of problems with games I presently play or will WANT to play.  Maybe this time Microsoft won't take forever to make the stupid OS work for gamers?  Pffft.  I'm not holding my breath on that.  Vista is just NOW finally getting "doable" for gamers, and still....there are certain things that have to be done for specific games, for it to work right.  (Such as disabling windows effects in some games, and games having to be installed to different locations than before for other games, etc.)

Seems like every single time an OS from Microshaft becomes even remotely stable for gamers....they release a new OS that will cause more problems again.  F**k Microshaft.  If absolutely everything ran top notch on Linux, I'd never buy one more damn MS product EVER.  I'm on the verge of hating that company.  I've pretty well eliminated my use of ANYTHING MS, other than the OS alone.  Sadly, I still can't get completely away from MS, probably mostly because I'm not QUITE geeky enough to know how, I guess, and partly because I still play a lot of games that won't run on something else, and partly because I just refuse to buy a MAC for my home (which also won't run some of the games that I play).

I don't blame Microsoft at all for this. The reason GameGuard doesn't work is because the program bypasses Microsoft security measures to prevent hacks. And Windows 7 prevents this, which makes the OS much more safer. Windows 7 is much more gaming friendly right now, than Vista has ever been. Games run faster, and it's a much better OS overall.

I blame Acclaim and GameGuard for this problem. First of all, they shouldn't even be using GameGuard. It detects legit programs like antivirus software, firewalls, even the program used for my keyboard as a hack. And it doesn't allow you to play the game unless you close the program, or in some cases, uninstall the program. Not only does it give you all those false positives, but it also doesn't help with hacking either. Hours after GameGuard releases a patch to stop the newest hacks, the hackers already have new versions out. It doesn't stop anything. It just gives the honest paying customers headaches and problems that they need to deal with because Acclaim chooses to use a really unintelligent program to try and stop hacking. I think they've lost me as a customer, and I'm sure there will be many other people who have problems with GameGuard that aren't even related to Windows 7 and will give up as well.

Okay, well that's good to know....I guess.

Can you tell me if LotRO, WoW, EQ2, and EVE will run on Windows 7 without hangups and issues?  Do you think it's a good idea to go ahead and try the Windows 7 beta (I'm assuming there is one)?

Because if it's BETTER....then I'm all for it!! =D  I just tend to have a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to MS releasing an OS every time they do, because usually.....it's not a good thing for gamers.  Every time they release a new one, we have to fiddle with stuff or, in the case of Oblivion vs. Vista....not even be able to play it.  Very expensive game sitting there on my shelf that I can no longer play.  Never crossed my mind when I went to get my new PC that going with Vista and a DX10 card could be a bad idea.  Got home and discovered that I could no longer play Oblivion.  Wow was I an UNHAPPY camper.  Grrrr.

    Sorry for the thread derailment.

    Here's something thread worthy....

I played in the closed beta for TCoS and found that it was very interesting....more challenging than most popular MMOs, interesting combat mechanics, unique character appearances.  Overall I was very impressed and excited about the release for a long time.  It's just that months and months have gone by and I've become involved in another MMO besides what I was playing before and now....I'm running out of money for all of the MMOs I'd like to dabble in.  TCoS still doing the free to play first section of the game, I wonder?  Those were their initial plans, I know.  I haven't kept up with them much over the past few months.

Are you sure you are using the US client? Others have reported this issue, but they were using the EU beta client.

There is a beta going on, but sign up and client download ended in early February I believe.

The reason Vista had some compatibility issues was that they remade vista from the ground up, and they were rushed by marketers. Windows 7 is more of an incremental upgrade, but they are calling it "What Vista should have been". Think of it as Vista being Windows ME and 7 being XP.

I have it installed on my old Pentium 4 PC and I can tell you it runs beautifully. I haven't tried to play any games on it, but the OS itself it very fast and stable, runs as fast as XP on my Q6600. While in XP a clean install will have 40+ processes running when you start up, Windows 7 has 4. I like it a lot, and will definitely buy it when it comes out. (And I completely skipped Vista, even though I can get it for completely free through school).

If you are worried about compatibility though, you could always dual boot 7 with your old OS. I may do that just because I don't want to reinstall everything.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic

I've played EVE, LotRO, WoW, WAR, RoM, and many other games on Windows 7 and never had any problems. The only game I can't get to work is Spellborn.

If this is true, YAY!  That is encouraging. :)  Could be that MS isn't very concerned with whether or not TCoS runs on it yet, considering there's no official NA release yet, right?  Hopefully that will run on it as well....eventually.  Thanks for the info on actually....all of the games I play right now....being compatitble. :)
