Which Acer Monitor to buy?

DeadlySwordzDeadlySwordz Member UncommonPosts: 91

having trouble deciding what monitor to buy from newegg.com.  its between a 21.5inch HD 1080p widescreen monitor heres the link    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009157  or a 23inch HD 1080p widescreen monitor, heres the link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009162.  both are fairly good monitors with good specs, but the 23 has a tiny bit more better specs, like the contrast ratio.

i like the 23 but it seems like it might be to big. i am coming from a 19inch HD widescreen monitor, which my max resolution can only go up to 1440x900. id like to play my games on 1920x1080 with max settings. i have a geforce 9600gt 512mb graphics card on my PC atm. i just can't decide which one, lol. which one do you guys think? and is there anyone that actually has any of these 2 monitors?

    The 23" is the best.

thanks for the responses guys. im aiming towards the 23inch one. any of you have a monitor ths size? do you think its to big or the right size for you?

i own the 21.5 1080p Asus, and i love it. Get what works with the distance you sit from it. 21.5 was just perfect for me.

I upgraded in the last year from a 17" CRT to a 22" widescreen LCD.  The monitor felt to wide at first, but now I think its too small.  You will get used to it.

i ended up ordring the 23inch one, lol...   www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx  ..after thinking and thinking over which size to get i just went with this one..specs were better on this one for just $30 more..also was free shipping. i think theres a newegg company/factory here in NJ where i live. so maybe ill recieve it 2morrow..that would be awsome...and the distance? i have my current 19inch in front of me and im basically like 3-4inches away from being 3ft away form my monitor, so i think the 23 should be fine...saw some vids on youtube of people having 24inch monitors and their keyboard/mouse is basically 6inches away..now thats damn close, lol.......anyway, thanks for the repies everyone

23" won't be an issue at almost 3' away. I'm surprise that you managed to deal with a 19" from that distance though. My old 19" 4:3 CRT seems a tad small at that distance and my 20" widescreen LCD is only just acceptable at that range because everything is so sharp compared to my old CRT. I normally sit 2' away though and at that range the 20" is just about perfect, which leads to my conclusion that you'll be fine and made the right choice, but for the first week or so it might feel a bit overwhelming at times. You'll get used to it though and your eyes will thank you.

just recieved my new 23inch monitor yesterday from newegg. glad i purchased it.. nice big screen with no dead pixels at all. have it hooked up via DVI connection. but just had a quick question to anyone that has a 1080p monitor as well. theres an option in the settings called "ACM" right now its off. is it better to have that setting to "ON"?

  • CleffyCleffy Member RarePosts: 6,414

ACM=Adaptive Contrast Management.  Its what makes the monitor capable of a 40000:1 contrast ratio.  You will achieve far greater detail in gradation with it on.
