Logging in today, I found myself interested. The combat seemed fresh, the lore was engaging, and the animation was smooth. I finished the tutorial and got ported to the docks - met by a few NPCs with some simple kill quests. I ran south to find the mobs required and find very little spawns. After killing a couple, I realize there just isn't enough mobs to go around. I got feeling that the game is probably group oriented, so people can share quest objectives and complete them together.
Then suddenly a wave came over me.
I realized I couldn't do that. I couldn't spend time to find a group and go on an adventure and kill mobs together. As fun as it sounded, my real life priorities are the most important things in my life right now. Being a university student, I just don't have time to dedicate myself to MMOs anymore.
Maybe I'll log in from time-to-time and enjoy the game mechanics.
Sigh, I really am too old for this game.

Well in my opinion mmorpgs should be 80% grouping 20% solo.
I will see when it gets installed, if its piss eay mode it will be /uninstall
Well dude thats understandable. And its good that you are making your life your priorty. But i wouldn't say you're too old, you just don't have the time lol. No ones too old for a good MMO.
I myself should be spending more time off the computer for sure but i got a singleplayer rpg i'm playin and theres always CSS.
Meh... its tthe weekend though i'll get on it monday lol
Good luck to you man.
oh shit i didn't even realize it was OB til i just checked my email.
This games alright. The combats too click click with the mouse and there isn't enough mobs. Double the mobs and spawn rate or something. Rolling bar is interesting. Have to manually aim with the mouse is annoying but is slightly more realistic than auto target. I would suggest anyone to give it a try once to see what it's like. Didn't stick around myself due to the fact I play other games but if I didn't I'd start it up.
lol at people who think auto attack style of combat in MMOs is still great.... ffs its bout time MMOs combat is evolving
Takes about a minute to kill a mob, and that was the starting area. After leaving the tutorial section, it took me another hour (or more, I forget) to level up from 3 to 4. It's easy in that you can easily take on 3-4 mobs if you play smartly; if you move around and learn to heal yourself, you can be quite self-sufficient. However, I believe the game is meant for grouping..it took me 30 minutes to finish the first kill quest because there were only about 6-7 spawn points for the required mob...and I had to kill 10. I wound up grouping up with some people so we could share the mobs.
Also, another intersting thing is that quests don't give an overload of experience. I finished a couple of quests and I got about 15% from all of them.
I can really see myself bring in a group of 5 and taking on like 15 mobs at once and just having a blast. I won't go into the game mechanics; you'll have to experience it yourself to truly understand.
Hmm...I believe you could go through combat without ever clicking on anything. You can tab through targets, then press the keys corresponding to the skill you want to use until you finish off the mob.
To me the spawn rate is really a blessing in disguise. I find games are too solo oriented, but what can you expect; there are too many casual gamers to ignore.
A few annoying things are like the bad customization of the camera, and whenever you hold down left click, the mouse resets to the middle of the screen.
Patch 1.03 (which acclaim havent gotten round to uploading yet) increases the mob spawns around the docks for that very reason, but mostly its because of the hammering the starter area is taking at the moment due to the massive influx of players.
Last night Raznilof was on and said he'd look into increasing the spawn rates for the next few days, but It woudl still be best to group imo.
I can't see you doing that if the maximum group size is four.

Didn't know maximum size was 4, I pulled 5 basically out of my ass. But I think 4 is a good number.
Vinceh, I'm in the same boat you are. I use to be a power gamer, I still like to play video games, but it takes too much investment to play mmo's with real life stuff going on. I was really getting into Runes of Magic, but had to quit because I would just zone out and real life stuff wasn't getting done.
It must be what drug addicts go through, lol.
Personally, I'm glad the modern MMO's have moved away from forcing grouping on us like this. If anything I would like to play a MMO which offered solo or group play in equal measure, so depending how much time I had or what I felt like doing I could do either with little or no penalty.
But then I am very casual in my approach to MMO's now. Long gone are the days of gridning out levels in Legend of Mir and Lineage 2. I simply don't have the time (or the inclination if I'm being prefectly honest).
