I could say something quick and witty like the last poster, but I decide not to. I'm in a bit of a funk though, not knowing what particular game I should go to now. because of my schedule, I would need a game thats friendly to the casual 'gamer.' Any ideas?

Both games lagged similarly at similar stages of beta.EQ2 was laggyier towards end of beta ,just like WoW on occassions.

With WoW it was down to UI and database server problems and tweaks. Devs were (they told us) tweaking and fiddling with servers and so we would notice lag.

There was very little latency lag for me in  UK ,vid lag was non existant (even 5 minutes ago at end of beta with demolord gm things and 100+ chars attcking it!) The lag was code and server based. They also had error loggin switched on .All has to be taken into account.

Me...im neither eq or wow at the moment but i must say a gun totting dwarf was fun lol

WoW did some intentional load testing for a few days, which made lag and server stability horrible for most.

Unfortunately, they didn't do a very good job of explaining this to the Open Beta testers and a lot of people were very frustrated. Prior to this, the servers were very stable and virtually lag free. The tweaks they made in the last days of beta made any lag totally disappear for me and stability was solid.

That they were able to handle over 500,000 Open Beta testers bodes very well for opening week stability and lack of lag.

It WAS a huge PR blunder to not be more explicit with the load testing, but on the otherhand they may have been afraid of losing a lot of testers for those days if people knew ahead of time that the servers would be intentionally made laggy. :)

I would bet almost anything that the game will have one of the smoothest Week 1 experiences of any recent mmorpg. Guess we will see :)

It can be a tiny bit laggy at times, like when there are a lot of people in the same area. Sometimes there's a little lag in the cities.

I love WoW, not going to lie, but I agree that the lag was awefull....

However, you have to realize that there where over 500,000 people actually logged in at certain points, no lie. (I realize that not all of the OB people ever logged in at the same time, but there are over 250,000 CBT and ST also playing)

Also, after the last patch I did not experiance any lag what-so-ever. They did a real good job locateing the server-side memory leak and fixing it. I was extremely impressed with how quickly they fixed there servers. Once it goes retail and there are 400,000 less people playing it, it should be smooth as a babies bottom :-D

Would love to try EQ2 sometime too, but cannot afford both.

Why did they move this post into EQ2 forums?? I wanted both sides to see it but it mainly talks about WoW lag, not EQ2.

I will agree that there was lag at one point during the BETA. They addressed the issue and had resolved it to where there was little to no lag after that. Also, you said you had to wait in line to join the servers .. if you had read the official boards you would have seen why this was. They were testing their server capacities and adjusting their lag issues. It was fixed before the beta had ended. I highly doubt that there will be a lag issue during retail. I do not see how you can complain and moan about problems that were in beta. They were still testing and had resolved those issues, along with many others.

Now, come retail if you still see these problems existing, than you can make a rightful post about it not being playable. Until than, save your breath. It has no merit what so ever.image

As far as you saying I dont know about the game, I got to lvl 23 rogue and got to my 3rd lvling area, maybe that isnt high, but I can see if I like the game from that point on or not.
Also who cares if im fan boi or not, I dont like WoW, doesnt make a difference what game I do like.

I played the game, final ST and OB. So I think I do know the facts. The last couple days the server has been lagging like hell. Although I did not play it yesterday or today. But friday-monday it was horrible. Go play the game and see for yourself.

921 This makes anythign you have to say form this day forth aboutsoloutly irrelevant go play EQ2 and leave the WoW forums

ya your right, I shouldnt have posted this thread. I needed to read more about the lag first. Sorry for the negative post, most of you are too ignorant to accept my apologie anyways.

Also I have played the game, most people know that ::::01::
