Can you go over the skill cap in a year?

ZephrithZephrith Member Posts: 122

Well, without using all those cheap professions, can you? I really want a challenging game, I have always wanted a challenging. I would've picked FFXI (for some odd reason,) but my video card sucks because I have a laptop.

Discusion:

Can you really get over the skill cap in one low year?

Thanks,

If you powergame and have the knowledge and funds, it's quite possible to create a fully capped out character with any skills you like within a week, max. I've known peeps to complete a character in a matter of days. There are a couple of skills that are exceptions (mainly useless ones, like begging image)

Casual, actual gaming? As a newbie with no assistance (friends, gear, macros)? image UO would be hard - very hard. As soon as you make a few friends willing to help you the difficulty will probably drop off a bit. It would take a lot of repetitive playhours to master any skill without macros/tricks, even with friends.

FYI: UO has beaten up, down, left, right and flipped inside out. It's gone from PvP-based where items were more or less worthless to Collection-Based where all that matters is what you have (with a side order of very boring PvP in one of 4, or soon 5  facets). They're also adding some stupid Ninja/Samuri-esque era as a facet. What a way for a good game to go image

If you like to collect imaginary trinkets and learn to use 3rd party macros, UO is for you. If you want a real game with good, non-macro based gaming and a decent PvP scene, sorry, but you'll have to look elsewhere. image

You can probably tell I don't like UO much now, although I was subbed to them from Late 1998-Mid 2004 image

It depends what kind of character you try to cap.

Crafters, paladin, necro, mage, warrior, and such answer is oh yes easily.

For bards and  tamers its going to take longer but year is enough if you really challenge it.

heh, let me show you some more hate I have for Paladins.

You can spam the spells for paladins until you succeed in raising the skill for paladin, the only thing you need is to have tithed gold, because it costs gold to use the paladin spells, in essence your role playing by tithing gold to the paladin leader coffers to acquire paladin spells. Same with Necromancy you can spam necromancy spells to raise the skill.

    What a F'ing joke.

OH yeah Paladins biggest damage dealing character template in game.

PvP Necromancers are called gimps because of their unbalanced spells.

Hello, Earth to UO DEVELOPERS, here is a clue. Fix your game.

And if you use 100% lower regs suit training necro paladin or mage is totally free.

LOL. Try having maxed in less than 3 days. Not sure if it's like this anymore, but when I played (played from launch up until EA F'ed it up) you lock all skills except combat and spirit speak and macro sword/mace to get up str and end, and then macro spirit speak for int. UO was fun and challenging in the old days until it was split up into different worlds and ruled out complete onsight PvP.
