    What is best for burgler would you say ?

  • beaverzbeaverz Member Posts: 660

    There isnt really a best crafting profession for each class.

    However some profs are better/easier.

    Explorer is hte typical """"noob""""" prof. You gather ressourcesthat are used by other profs. And can also make light and medium armor. Best way to make cash without having to master any tiers. (thats hte prof i have on my main).

    The msot profitable prof is jewerler, these guys make the eaasiest buck on the auction house. However you'll need to get quite a lot of work done before you can crit you jewelry and make it interesting for sale.

    I recommand taking explorer because its really the simplest prof and easiest way to make cash.

    Btw you cna change your prof ingame so if you find exxplorer boring you cna always change it.

    Keep in mind though, there is about no role for crafting in  the post-Mines of Moria world. Basically, they have phased out crafted items by introducing radiance armor, which is mandatory and extremely powerful both in one. Think of it as resist gear for a boss fight, just with uber stats on top.

    Crafting is now just for fun, and a handful of consumables. It servers no other role... well, equipping alts maybe.

    I have to make this fast because I'm going...

    Crafting is made up of three disciplines.

    Explorer is prospecting, tailor (I think) and and forester? I really don't like crafting and though I'm an explorer all I did was prospecting.

    However you didn't really look... on that page is a sticky which results in this:

    http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=47149

    That is a link that is on the page I posted. Below is part of what is said there.

    2.0 VOCATIONS:

    As a Crafter you will chose a Vocation, which includes three different professions. Most Vocations have a gathering profession, a related production profession, and an unrelated profession. The Vocation system is designed to encourage community interdependence. There is no "best" vocation for any class. Choose the one that interests you the most. It is more important that you enjoy the professions you get with your vocation. Here are the current vocations:

    * Armsman: Prospecting, Weaponsmith, Woodworker

    * Armorer: Prospecting, Metalsmithing, Tailor

    * Explorer: Forester, Prospector, Tailor

    * Historian: Farmer, Scholar, Weaponsmith

    * Tinker: Prospector, Jeweller, Cook

    * Woodsman: Farmer, Forestor, Woodworker

    * Yeoman: Farmer, Cook, Tailor

    Armsman or Tinker is the best for a Burglar in my opinion - you could go with Explorer and just concentrate on Tailor to make your own armor - but I believe Nice weapons / Jewelery will benefit you more.

    Honestly, I've found that crafting in the game just really isn't worth it. Just pick the explorer vocation and put all the resources you gather on the AH.

    I'm a weaponsmith and I can't make anything good for my level. I'm 42 now, and while I did do the quest to finally unlock the next tier of stuff, I need Ancient Iron for it. But the only places to get this iron are about 5-10 levels higher than me.

    And then, I'm only going to be able to make regular stuff, presumably, until I max out the tier. Which will take hundreds of this iron.

    I haven't even maxed out my WS tier that makes level 30-35 weapons. In part because to unlock the 2nd half of the tier I had to do a 40th level quest, but also because it takes 100s of Dwarf Iron ore. I've mine a bunch of it (probably 400-500), but still not enough.  And then you need coal to smelt the dwarf iron into dwarf steel. Ugh.

    Basically you're pouring hundreds of silver in resources just to be able to make something that you could just buy on the market for about 1/10. Or if you do some quests, you get some decent gear.

    And woodworking, since I can't harvest wood, I'm stuck. I'd have to buy 1000s of wood on the market to make a decent bow for myself.

    Crafting is excellent and very rewarding in most professions.

    I had alts for every craft, been levelling them gradually, so every resource I accidentally had (leather, gems, etc) could be used by another one. This way you can be way ahead and furnish all your toons with excellent crafted stuff: my hunter and burglar always had the best leather armor when they reached certain levels, thanks to my explorer burglar, who made single shot recipe items or critted items, which, (below lvl 50) are always the best gear for the given level. My scholar fully supplied all my toons with morale potions, my hunter with oils, my guardian with shield spikes, my jeweller minstrel was always making nice jewelry (ALWAYS better than quest rewards!!!), and radiance potions, etc...

    It is totally fun and worthy to craft - sold many critted items at several hundred silvers, so once in a while I even had the money to buy resorces from the AH, but I hardly needed that.

    I take it you have never been to either Misty Mountains or Angmar??

    Both have quests starting at lvl 40, and have Ancient Ore to mine.
