Hey all,
Like most people on this particular forum I'm also looking for a new game to play.
A bit of background
I was a huge hardcore WoW player, still have my sub but I admit... being 80 with WotlK is incredibly boring. Basically, I can raid, do heroics or hang out in Dalaran chatting with my guild mates. Its incredibly stale... I started leveling a new char but to be honest I don't know if its' worth the effort... Ive enjoyed my time and years playing but Im about ready to call it quits.
I've played most popular MMO's for at least a short amount of time. I've tried DDO, DaoC, Eve Online, CoX, EQ2, Vanguard, WAR, Guild Wars, LotrO and probably a few others... Honestly I still haven't found what I want, although out of the bunch CoX was probably my favorite (having no one I know play, no guilds and what seemed to be an endless grind past 20 just made me quit - I will say though this was about 2 years ago and I haven't played since).
I'm not even sure if there's a game out there right now for me - but I figured I'd post and see what the great community at MMO had to say In a nutshell, this is what I like to find in a game
Lots of solid end game. I don't need to have hardcore raids, but at least something productive I can do when I reach the level cap.
A moderate amount of PVP. Guild wars had fantastic PVP and I played it for a long time after I quit the PVE aspect because I liked the fact that skill/spells > loot. Warcraft PVP just gets under my skin, and I don't care if I ever play another BG in my life.
Nice graphics but it doesn't need to be the "top of the line". I tried DaoC about 9 months ago and couldn't handle how poor it looked (at least in this day'n age). I admit, when I first started playing DoaC wayyyyyyyyy back in the day it was one of the best of its' kind. Now it just looks outdated and bland... so looking for something more state of the art.
Community is always a big one - WoW's community is meh but I have a good guild so it makes it better... problem is, they are mostly hardcore and I'm kinda the "noob" one even though I've been playing longer than most. I just don't have 40+ hours a week to dedicate, which is a nice segway to...
Casual... something I loved about CoX. I can pop on for an hour and actually do something productive. So something like that would be a nice perk.
Hopefully that helps a bit on what I"m looking for... does anyone have any suggestions on what I could try? Doesn't have to be any particular theme (sci-fi, fantasy, etc), I'm pretty easy going as long as the game is enjoyable. I'm trying to avoid "WoWish" type games if at all possible. I saw that LotrO had a lot of potential but honestly by level 20 I was wondering why I was playing it and not just playing WoW /shrug... felt far too similar....
Anyways any thoughts or suggestions would be great!
Cheers

Wow my queston must have been harder than I thought
At any rate, I've decided to give TCOS a shot and Im waiting for the new space MMO's to come out. All look promising....
If anyone else has anything to add (or comment at all) I'd love to hear it!
I'm in the same boat. Played everything and still havent found what I want. You know what I think the problem is? The way fantasy MMOs are made. The game I'm really waiting for is Jumpgate Evolution, nothing like any current MMO really. Maybe if you try to get away from the stale cookie cutter MMOs with 1 or 2 original ideas and go with something else that is totally different.
well all I have to say is that I join in with you 2 guys I have the same problem here ... just like finding a girlfriend ... they're not the one you hope ^.^
JGE has really peaked my interest as well...
The rest just haven't done it for me... I may have to play WoW until Jumpgate's released (which is apparently June), but I just downloaded Chronicles of Spellborn which looks to have some promise. We shall see, Im still downloading the game now
At any rate, it seems the current MMO market is pretty thin... LOTRO and WAR are both good games but I found by level 20+ it was much more of "same old, same old"... Neither hooked me enough to keep going, although I hear the new xpac for LOTRO is quite impressive.
TCOS is great, in my opinion. I subscribed, I'm level 9 now, and it's a great experience so far for me. I love the art, and the quests most of all.
