FFXI and next SE mmorpg

so I am an avid FFXI player I played it for 7 years.....then stopped over dumb reason now I'm playing warhammer (tried lots of mmos and even warhammer barely grabs my attention) and I'm wanting to go back to XI but wanting to wait until the new mmorpg from SE comes out, since you can transfer from XI to it I assume it'll be FF related......anyone know any info on it? or has reasons I should just stop procrastinating and go back to XI (even with its just now outdated graphics) just wanna talk about this any info would be great thanks

I highly doubt you will be able to transfer your XI character to the new MMO. Thats just a rumor. I see infinate problems associated with that ranging from technical problems to just plain lazyness for them not being able to create a 100% new game.  I am a 4 yr ffxi retired vet, and I want a fresh start in a new FF world. (not sure if it will be an FF title or not) Junes E3 should tell us more so for now just wait until then.

I agree with you on other MMO's, there is not one new mmo out there that can hold a hardcore FFXI players attention.

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
    Now Playing: N/A
    Worst MMO: FFXIV
    Favorite MMO: FFXI

yes "toddze" i agree with about 99% of your post....but isnt there a post from a developer (i think the head one) saying that some but not all info will be able to be transfered to the new world......i think itll be a continuation from vana'diel or part of the new FFXIII franchise but either way gil and certain items like that would be transferable if FF IP correct?

Looking things up, I found official deniels that it was any kind of sequel to FFXI.  It's apparently an entirely new thing, not Final Fantasy at all.

If there are rumors about transferrable characters, it might be that if you are subscribed to FFXI, then if you buy the new game there won't be a differen subscription fee or some kind of reduces fee.  That is, you'll keep the same account info and there might be shared subscription.  To be clear, I am just guessing here and there could be nothing like this and the rumors might simply be baseless.

I played FFXI a few years back.  Stopped after about a year.

I enjoyed the combat system (elemental combos with other party members were cool).  I love the job system.  I enjoyed the world.

That said, if there was a new FFXI game (or a game with the above elements), I'd want several things revisisted.  I'd want you to be able to solo to max level, because finding groups isn't always easy (or maybe just the next thing).  I'd want a move away from the Tank/Healer/DPS system (which would help forming parties a great deal).  I'd want the crafting system to be revamped.  I'd lastly want the travel times to be a lot less -- I don't have time to spend 20-30 minutes merely getting from point A to point B.  The quest system was pretty good, but I'd like a game with multiple choice quest endings.  All that said, I did like a number of the elements in FF (elemental system, red mages imbuing their weapons with a particular elemental type for a particular foe, etc).

FF XI was great the world the fame everything

i even enjoyed the time consuming parts (the first time around) but i would not want the time consuming parts to be so long and month-year oriented in next installment (if another FF world is made) would also like certain things shortened down but with the same difficulty that made it FF main thing is the main endgame gear for each job took what year tops for each piece ( or minimum) that should be def shortened lol great game love it still love it miss it and i really can't wait to see what SE comeso out with next

By excluding some of those things, it would remove a lot of the Final Fantasy elements from Final Fantasy XI.

All of the FF games were centered around grouping, so it would be only natural that the MMO would too. Soloing was never viable in any of the FF games.

All of the FF games also had that type of class system. Some characters were healers, some were better at taking damage (having higher HP/VIT points), and some were better at doing damage.

Also, long travel times (at least until the end of most FF games where airships were available (FF9 for example)) were another element of FF games too.

FFXI was surprisingly faithful in taking a lot of the single player elements from previous FF games and putting them in to the MMO. It's one of the reasons why FFXI is a good/original MMO.

But yeah, I agree with that other thing. The crafting system needs a revamp. Grinding that stuff can get annoying fast, especially since crafting is so ungodly expensive.

But that thing about the game having multiple endings was already introduced by the new expansion pack. The new storyline in the expansion pack has three different paths (based on each nation in the game) that you can choose. Each of them have their own stoylines, and their own endings.

As far as i understand it now, perhaps they have had a change ,but there will not be another FFmmo.

I think they realize there is no way it could happen, and they make a decent cash flow from FFXI.

The new MMO will be something different ,at least that is the way i understand it.Apparently they have brough back the original guy to mastermind this new game,so it should be a decent game for sure. What scares me is that the guy in charge of the new engine is not up to my standards.Do not expect huge changes in the new game ,as the new engine is basically still the old engine. You have to remember JPN is/was not  like Korea when comes to gaming, they are still kind of old fashion and more of a console gaming nation. They have just started to work with other companies and recently made a game from the unreal engine.

I played the trial of that game[Last Remnants] and i have to say i was not happy.Considering the high price tag of liscensing Epics best engine,i would have thought they put more effort into the game.It is sort of exactly like FFX in a way, just as linear but more confined as well.FFX was a lot more fun to play and felt like i was in a storyline.

If the Last Remnants is any indication of what to expect for future games it doesn't look good.I know some might like that type of game play i dont,i like a more relaxingffxi type of atmossphere.I like to think about what i am doing, i wouldn't want to sit a game for hours watching the screen intensively waiting to click the right sequence or right arrow. Also the combat system came close to reminding of Atlantica Online,i don't like that system either ,it felt less skillful and more luck based.I like to be in full control of my game.Last remenant felt more like the console games, where as FFXI has the feel of a true PC MMORPG.

They are going to announce everything at the next gaming expo,i can't remember the date but it was coming up soon.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

The best thing about FFXI for me was grouping. No other game has come close to being as fun as it was. Yes it was a pain sometimes to find a group, but it was well worth it once you found that group that just clicked and worked great together.

The grouping was great if you had a good group.  It would be a LOT better if they moved away from the Tank/Healer/DPS system though.  That makes finding groups VERY hard, because you have to fill those tank and especially healer spots.  You could easily make it so that grouping mattered, and even so that you would like to have a guy that can do X or Y in your group, but make it so that plenty of classes can do X and plenty can do Y.  Overally it wouldn't be too hard to find some FF-like ways to achieve this either (black mages could have a group drain to provide some group healing, a red mage with his drain weapon could perhaps provide healer to others with some tweaking to how that works, etc).  It would be a change, but one that is so much better for the game.  Anyhow, if they kept the elemental combos, then there'd still be a big incentive to group.  I'd be quite happy if you could group effectively with a friend or two (and if you group with a couple more it would be even better), than requiring that you need a full group to do ANYTHING.  The game was far too restrictive with grouping.

(Oh, and to the previous poster who said you can't solo FF games, that isn't true in a number of cases.  It's harder, but possible in almost every game.

Honestly, I hope it's not based on a FF world.  I hope they make a completely new setting and enviornment, something fresh.  We'll just have to wait and see what it's going to be.

    Hey there bud.

I was a hardcore FFXI player for about 3 years... back in the good old days of camping Leaping Lizzy/Emperor for drops to sell on the Auction house before they changed it to rare/ex...

And I was in an end game sky/HNMLS that actively camped and claimed/successfully took down Nidhogg/Aspidechelone/Fafnir/King Behemoth/tiamat etc.

I don't know why I quit either, I quit at the prime of my career after I got my Byakkos haidate and Kirins Osode because Sea and Dynamis was kind of repetitive.

But If you're looking for a new MMO, as a matter of fact TODAY I have been doing research on new MMOs because I absolutely LOVED FFXI and the way your name made yourself a reputation (rather large one) and the way you are remembered, and forced group play with a mature evnironment.

I read about a lot of different MMOs.. Everquest because it was like FFXI, EQ2 and from what I have read about a lot of games, the one that interested me the most was Vanguard, so I went and bought myself a subscription and am in the process of a 2 and 1/2 hour download.

The info I read on Vanguard was it was like Everquest 1, which is very similar to FFXI gameplay.  And I read about EQ2 and everyone who played EQ2 was disappointed because it wasn't like EQ1 too much.  But everything I read about Vanguard, everyone says Vanguard is everything they wanted out of EQ2, in a different game, which made me make my final decision into subscribing for it and giving it a shot.

You know how SE is there was word of development of FFXII back in 2001 and it wasnt released until 2006. We get a demo video of "Rapture" in 2005 and havent heard much since. I hope we get some new info on it at this year's GDC. There is evidence that FFXI will no longer exist once "Raputure" is released so if you love FFXI play it now.

Check here for newest info on it >>>> http://squaremmo.blogspot.com/.
