I have talked to several of my peers and they wont play Guild Wars because they think there will be dupers, hackers and cheating of all sorts. They think this because they game is going to be free and helped by Blizzard. Anyone got an opinion no this?

Whoever tries to dupe or hack, Good job on that
GW will be the most hack and cheat resistant game on the current market with the kind of technology they've licenced for this game.
That being said, it is foreseeable that there are still going to be attempts, trivial otherwise perfunctory gestures on the behalfs of curious hackers looking for holes in and out.
The challenge here is the rate at which these Visigoths sacked onlookers trying to crack the holes doesn't reasonably measure up to the rate at which Da Vigil4nCy smears the fluid on the surface.
I voted GW, because it is a great mix of awsome PVP, both group and solo play, no fedex missions and just a lot of fun overall. And i think it will be a very safe bet that noone will be hacking GW.

Most cheaters aren't hackers, they're packet-editors. (or use packet-editors). It's a little different from hacking. With current Guild Wars technology, packet editing, while possible, is completely pointless.
Most online games aren't directly hacked at first place...only exception I know of are Ragnarok Online, and someone hacking into the World of Warcraft forums (though not the game servers). I don't think Guild Wars is more protected than other games against hacks, but the big, most common cheats, which are done using packet-editors, will not exist.
