This could simply be one of the games they will be designing for the Wii.

Diablo III was already in development by the time the Blizzard North executives left (June 30, 2003)?  WTF?!  I'll tell you wtf... it's all about marketing schedule.  They milk the player base for all they're worth.  Yeah it would have been nice to have S2 two or three years ago when so many of us got bored of wow.  This summer would have been a great time to see diablo 3 when most of us would have been bored of S2 and ready to scream at the 3rd expansion of wow coming.  But no, they have to hype it and milk us to death with years of expansions for ONLY ONE GAME.  So because of this I get to watch painfully, 2 or three more wow expansions of the same crap recycled and pvp getting worse and worse--maybe if we're lucky have S2 this summer or winter in 3 painful race releases each year or so.  Diablo 3, what most of us really want, is probably still several years away.  They really need move to satisfying players with two recent games--say an MMO and an RTS or RPS at the same time.  Why for years do we only get one type of game from them--mmo?! Damn them for being the only decent developer for PC games.

Can you back up the information you listed?  Specifically when starcraft 2 and Diablo 3's development started?  I have been following blizzard for awhile and I have not heard ONCE them state when the development of starcraft 2 and diablo 3 started.

While Blizzard was completely suprised by WoW's success and forced to come up with many resources to support their growing giant that they didn't have, im still surprised where you get the idea about their schedule of developing their IPs.

Funny.  I posted this on the official forums and got blasted by an obviously agitated blue poster.  lol, I guess now I know what it finally takes to get a response from blue.

though if they went with the starcraft route i don't think it would work very well with the standerd WoW (aka general RPG) combat system. an FPS or something simeler to V.A.T.S. from Fallout 3 would probably work out alot better (atleast in my opinion anyways)  regardless, will be very interesting to see what it turns out to be :)

who knows. maybe there makeing a lost vikings MMO.

I think blizzard doing the first successful first person mmo and also their first FPS would be highly interesting but unlikely.

This has got to be a joke right? So its Blizzard's fault that millions of people choose to pay to play their current MMO? Not sure what your smoking but I would like some of that too! As far as Blizz making crappy games SC, Diablo, and the WC IP's are top notch games. No, I don;t sub to WOW anymore because its nothing but a grind fest even with the new expansion at end game, however; I did enjoy the game at one point in the history I played it.

If you should be boycotting any big zerg takeover force it should very well be EA!

I remember reading somewhere that Blizzard recently renewed their copyright (or something like that) on the "Blackthorne" title (an old platform shooter/beat em up, on SNES & other platforms), so there's room for that making a reappearance in one form or another alongside a multitude of other ideas.

    WoW on console, iphone.

I'm still hoping for some actual new ideas/IP from Blizzard rather than a "new and improved" copy of someone else's ideas.

A guess would be battlechat is part of Battlenet 2.0 .. blizzard have said players in any game can talk to each other.. kind of like Steam I guess.. If I play CoH via steam I can talk to my brother who mostly players TF2.

its a good feature and something that people can do in SOE games

EQ players can talk to others on different servers -- and other games like EQ2 / Vanguard

I'll get excited about a blizzard game (or any game for that matter) the day it's released. I don't really like this hype 5-10 years before it's release business.

  • Ax-eorAx-eor Member Posts: 26

The Hype is what kills great games, or atleast gets loads of trolls and bad reviews. Because fanbois, or some kind of next gen feature make it look like a new heaven, everyone kinda expects it to be.  It's good but not a heaven. then subs leave etc. (WAR, AoC)

My best guess is that Blizzard is working on a new online title planned for Microsoft's next Xbox system.

I do hope Blizzard has a new IP hiding behind the curtain, to me that would be great to see something new and fresh, I think after playing WOW for such a long time, which is not a bad thing.... I think something new would be great to see.

I'm still using my wishing  list for seeing Diablo MMO or even a Star Craft MMO, either would be great to see come alive.

The only thing about this new  game of Blizzards is that it will be running on its old WOW Physics Engine, don't get me wrong it's a great engine.  Ir's just getting along the dated side of things, I mean it was created in the early 2000's.  They could always get a new build of the engine and then I'm sure it would really wow us all.

Whatever Blzzard brings to the table next, will be top notch.

Blizzard have partnered with AMD, and AMD is currently working on moving Havok physics from the CPU to the GPU, similar to nVidias PhysX. Havok will be used in SC2, Diablo 3 and is currently used by all Source games like Portal, HL2 and Left 4 Dead.

Also the link in the OP says they use the WoW engine for testing purposes only, doesnt have to be for the physics or graphics in it, can be for the network code or something else.

No doubt Blizzard will suprise us with something fresh, I'm sure they found a way to keep the players in WoW and the new game

I'm not too happy about the xbox thing.  Blizzard should stick to its roots and keep with pc gaming.  Remember when they tried to go for the console?  Starcraft ghost didn't even get a release.

    PBBG List.

Yea but, maybe they try something like that again, with some changes
