I've been trying to sign up for this game for 40 days now and to be honest, no game in the world is worth this effort to join. I draw the line. I have other games I actually get to play and enjoy, and may or may not have enjoyed this one - I'll never know.
Perhaps if a professional company buys out the amatuers behind Darkfall, the majority might get a look in - but I won't hold my breath as many people say the game is just an empty world lacking in content - I'm just amazed anyone knows.
Still, to actually get an account, you got to be pretty hardcore in the first place so no doubt the few that have are adamant they made the right decision. Good luck if there really are people who play this game and not just the GM's posting as them to convince us all it exists.
April the 1st might be a good time to give it one last try perhaps - a fitting dated for this game/theory/illusion.

They are opening sales again in a few days. Don't get discouraged, you'll be waiting in the newly created 4-8 hour queues before you know it.

And thats what people keep doing... they keep waiting and waiting... hoping to get in the next day of sales over and over...
Its not worth it man, the game is not that great as I canceled, filed a credit card dispute and got my money back.
I'll see you in game once you stop crying because we both know you're lying about never trying again
To be honest.....I never ever saw a product that could not even handle the"sale" of the own product.
Really don`t believe that the guys are professionals!
They should get help from someone who knows how to run a game beyond internal testing!
I´m not a fanboy and not a hater. It`s just sad to see a good idea dying because of a bad realization!
Next week people will have better chance to get in cause of people like you !
well done OP *thumbs up* , my guildies have to thank you..

This is why I don't even bother. I have yet to make up my mind about DF (primarily because I haven't played it yet), but it just can't be THAT good. I mean, come on...I've got better things to do than play this lottery of trying to get DF.
It's a proven historical fact that beer saved humankind.

DarkFall FAQ - Read then Question with Boldness
Darkfall seems to be the most controversial game on the forums. I don't even play MMO's anymore but I keep getting drawn to this game haha. I wonder if its really a bad game.
Because clearly the OP isn't worthy enough to play Darkfall and would only take up space that would be better used by the faithful of the God King Tasos.
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
Because clearly the OP isn't worthy enough to play Darkfall and would only take up space that would be better used by the faithful of the God King Tasos.
Well, obviously.
The OP has clearly strayed from "The Path". Thus "The Golden Light of Tasos" no longer shines on them. That they tried for 40 days to get into the game matters not. Their past efforts are all forfeit, for they have turned their back on The Almighty Tasos.
What's worse, they spoke in negative, doubting tones about the rest of the Aventurine Pantheon, and questioned the unmitigated righteousness and holy superiority of all that is Darkfall.
They are no longer worthy of Darkfall. And so now they'll be spoken to as less.
/sarcasm off
The fans of this game never cease to amuse me.
That said... I give the OP credit for giving it *that* much time. I've given up much sooner on similar situations. There's a point where you just say "screw it.. I'll try again at a later date", and find something else to do. I would venture to guess most people would.

I agree....the fans of DF and PvP in an MMO will go wherever a game is "hardcore"

Ipod, Furbies, Wii, Xbox-Xbox360, Xbox Live kits, Iphone, Mac, Rolling Stones/Nirvana/Micheal Jackson tickets, hybrid cars, Cabbage patch dolls, Playstation 1-3, just about any StarWars/StarTrek movie, Street Fighter IV in Japan this year, Obama Inauguration tickets, Rubik's cube, Zelda, Super Mario, Resident Evil, Halo... I'll stop now but you get the point.

Lol at the tickets.
Anyways, most of those problems were caused by unplanned or unexpected bursts of popularity...they just weren't prepared (except probably Obama!). Aventurine, while appearing like they don't have a handle on things, actually do. This is a controlled sales/release strategy, so in this case, if they couldn't handle the sale of their own product, they'd open up the floodgates and have day-long queues and the server crashing every 1.2 minutes.
Yes it pained me to say it but gotta give credit where credit's due. Aventurine chose to do it this way because they only have one server. It was pretty much their only option.

In other words, they couldn't handle the sale of their own product. Yet, they have a handle on it because they weren't prepared? That makes sense.

Hehe.. people wanted those tickets, though. Bush tickets sold like Hellgate London subs.
Those other items definitely weren't unplanned or unexpected "shortages" and pop items. Ipod/Iphone notoriously shortsold to stores to create artifical demand months before. I think you know that too. They had huge ad campaigns then undersold to stores to keep demand high and prolonged. They had plenty of stock, they just wanted to keep people chasing. And to not know any video game and toy on that list above just about did the same around Xmas time every every year to create stampedes at Walmart.. think someone would have to be a Muslim to not see that one. The biggest thing those companies do is create demand for their products, all after months of hype.
We agree on Darkfall, though. Aventurine did the same somewhat, but for slightly different reasons. They really needed to control how many people went in on their first try. To have week long crashes would have been absolutely unforgivable. If they had sold 300,000 units and then no one can play due to lag and bugs, you KNOW what the trollshouts would have been.. that they intentionally oversold to crash the server on purpose and steal money because the game wasn't real. Hehe, you know it because there are tons of tinfoil hat people still posting today (some in this thread).
Opening up with a limited amount was the absolute best thing to let those people get sorted and comfortable, then fix as you go. Are they paying for beta? Yes, but just about every game release is a paid beta for the first couple months. Look at Warhammer and AoC.. those are six month paid betas still because the endgame doesn't work reliably in either of them and problems still persist.. they are instanced out and still laden with problems. Warhammer alone I think fixed way over 5,000 bugs since release... and its still fubared up a bit in VERY key areas. Only game I was ever in that went "smooth" was LOTRO, and even that wasn't perfect.

The point is that all these "products" were obtainable everywhere....Darfall has the potencial buyers but they can´t deliver it to the market. It`s not a car or a toaster it`s a virtual product. 6 weeks and the server capacity can`t even handle a percentage of the potencial players.
Like I said....2 sad for a small company because when another, more professional manages sandbox game (e.g. Mortal online) will open up the doors Darkfall will lose the fan base. People want to play a game after release...they don`t want to wait for a copy of then game.
Lol. Is this guy for real?
Oh yeah, he is serious. If you want a really good laugh, take a stroll through his post history and just take a look at some of the totally nonsensical, and utterly ridiculous things this joker has said in support of Darkfall. Really. Do it, it will keep you busy for awhile, but I guarantee you will laugh, a lot, but you'll probably spend most of the time shaking your head thinking to yourself..."what is up with this guy?"
To the person who posted that picture, never open Photoshop again. You might release the horrors of Hell onto Earth.
Playing: EVE Online
I spent two weeks trying to get DF before I gave up. I hadn't the fortitude of the OP.

I'm not sure how you mean obtainable, when they were sold out. Which is what we are really talking about. Aventurine is "sold out" of spots on their server, which is the same as if any one of those companies short-sold items to stores, causing customers anger and heartache while waiting for the next shipment. Exactly the same but I can see you don't see that.
As for Mortal Online, it may not be as long lived as anyone thinks. I don't know many people who prefer 1st person view ONLY while playing MMOs. Even Darkfall offers 1st and 3rd person to give the player more variety and choice. When a gamemaker says "You will ONLY see this way, because WE think its better", don't expect many customers to stick around forever for that. It's only so much more realistic because you can't have any peripheral vision. I really see that MO is going to be a niche game as well. It may sell 200k copies at launch (depending on whatever else is released by then), but it certainly won't keep that many. It will probably end up with as many subs as Darkfall overall, while spending way more cash.
I don't really see a huge potential for MO. Niche, full loot, with one view. Not what most gamers want.
My money is on Aion as game of the year this year in NA.
