in City of Heroes
just want to know what kind of video card everyone has to run COH.  right now i have a GeForce 4 ti 4200 and i was wondering if there would be a big difference if i upgrade to a GeForce FX or Radeon 9800.  i'm running on an athlon xp 1800+ so maybe the cpu is my bottle neck as well.  it seems to be running okay right now but i really haven't compared it to anything.  i would love some input.

    From my experience, you are better off upgrading your CPU and memory vs your graphics card. I went from 512MB of memory to 1 gig and it made a big difference. Went from Ti 4200 64meg to Radeon 9800 Pro 256 and it made almost no difference in framerate, although now i can play at 2x AA with no slowdown. I have a 1900+ athlon.

    Also, since CoH is an OpenGL based game, the Nvidia cards will probably do more for you than the competitive ATI cards will. From all of the metrics I've seen, Nvidia does better at OpenGL and ATI does batter at DirectX. So for games like Doom3 and CoH Nvidia is better, but for games like HalfLife 2, ATI is better.

    I originally had a Radeon 9000 and was playing just fineimage.  Since then, I've upgraded to a 9600 and really see no difference.  Also I have an Athlon 1800+ and 512MB of RAM and it runs just fine.  I hardly ever experience any lag.image
