That is my question.
Im tired of sitting on my butt and watching my wife sit on her butt and get fatter and fatter.
Instead of watching TV, we could play some games where you have to wave your arm around to control the game.
I think that might help us be more active. Are there games worth playing though?
I see Star Wars Force unleashed, does that mean I can wave the Wiimote around like a lightsaber? That would be really sweet.
And I guess the Wii fit would be like an excersize program, is it fun?
Any input would totaly rock !
thanks guys !

I played some party games on it with a bunch of people. It's not bad, it gets people involved in a common activity and yeah there's the flailing of the arms. It's fairly user friendly so your wife will not be intimidated by complicated controlls because like you said, you just wave your arm around.
I can't comment on the wii fit since I haven't used it so you're on your own on that one.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
Yes But Somepeople NEED the things like Wiifit to motavate them to Do it.
The question to the OP is are you one of them? if so the Yes get the Wii.

well, could do it like the cartoons then...take your favorite food (for example, say a doughnut) and tie a thin rope to it and tie it to a very long stick. Attach it to your head or body would be better...then run in place going after the doughnut.
Never tried it or seen it done...but why not :P
If you do try it Youtube it for the rest of us :P

well i personally think it will suite you the Wii fit is actually quite good and you get a good range of exercises with it and some basic games too. On top of that its a great group item if you ahve friends as some of the party games are a lot of fun. The only negative point i have for it [and no its not the graphics they are fine] is the time it sometimes takes for the REALLY decent Nintendo brand games to come out.
List of games you might enjoy
1. Resident Evil 4
2. Mario galaxies
3. Latest mario party game
4. Brain training [ it really works too]
5. Metroid
Well i hope you have fun with this i know i did.

Hehe yea. But honestly if there's is one piece of equipment one should get is a....treadmill. They're frikking awesome. If you cba or too lazy to go running, buy that badboy and run for it until you become kate moss, ok maybe not that thin haha.

I used to own a Wii...sold it to a friend because the only game that I ever really played on it was Zelda, and after I beat that game there was no real point anymore...Wii sports is a fun party game for awhile, but nothing that will keep a real gamer interested for longer than a couple of days at most.
There may be some better games out now, but if you're a real gammer, I would suggest getting a real console, or a better PC.

Call of Duty World at War
Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
Fire Eblem: Radiant Dawn
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Medal of Honor Vanguard
Medal of Honor Heroes 2
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
No More Heroes
Red Steel
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 & 09
Wii Play (couldn't pass up another Wiimote)
Wii Sports (of course)
007 Quantum of Solace
Except for the sports games, Tiger Woods has a sit-style swing choice in options, I can say I'm able to play sitting down mostly with this list. Yet there are moments of concentrated moving with the Wiimote.
(All the games I have on it at the moment)
I happen to enjoy the shooters the most of the three consoles and but wish games would develop that let you swing a sword around in total freedom. Maybe in the next iteration of strengthening the accelerometers.

I've rented Star Wars from Gamefly and completed the single player portion of it. (I believe there was a dueling portion for two players but I didn't play that part) Anyway, in the game there was not so much total freedom in swinging like a lightsaber but you could move the Wiimote from side to side.
I'm hoping that freedom eventually comes about though. The Wii can still be fun at times however.

There are hits and misses in any software and hardware.
Anyone who has seen things like the temple level in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess can not say necessarily that the Wii's graphics are doomed.
I'm in agreement with you that the graphics are fine.

Now that the Wii isn't sold out before it hits the store shelves, it is my opinion the console is dead.
Wii!
Wii will help your wife to keep fit. But , meanwhile, be careful to keep your furniture away from her.
Wii is lame and it won't keep you fit.
I'll just put my 2 cents in here since we have a Wii and Wii Fit. My wife and kids utterly love Wii Fit. My family is relatively fit, as I was a US Army Ranger, my wife is a 3rd degree black belt in Tai Quan Do, and my kids are active in sports. However, my wife likes Wii Fit for the Yoga, my daughter loves it for the balance games, and I use it for some of the strength excercises. The one thing I noticed with the Wii Fit is it is a great training tool to supplement other activity. Personally, I get on it mostly to maintain my top scores vs the rest of the family in all the excercises, yoga, and balance games. As they get better, I am forced to get better and vice versa.
Now, if you are not active, it might be a tool that might motivate you into other activities. And for that, I would greatly recommend the Wii Fit. If, in the end, you just want an excuse to get another console game to play from the couch, then forget it. Playing Tiger Woods golf or Force Unleashed on the Wii is not going to provide any noticable benefit in terms of excercise.
well wii fit is kinda funny and i would recommend it but if you wanna realy get fit then you should better start make some sport.
the best would be to join a fitness club
how about instead..
adopt a dog from an animal shelter. the dog will NEED to be walked, played with, trained, fed at certain times during the day.. ALL of these things will help promote a change in your lifestyle.
weight loss will only come from a change in attitude and lifestyle not from a gaming console.
good luck.

How about spend that money on a gym subscription and go do some real fitness workouts.
PBBG List.
I lost weight on the wii.. Untill I learnt how much more fun it was with a group of people and alcohol... I think they cancel eachother out :P
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...
i favour wii, and i got one. its very interesting and helps you keep fit. even you don't want tolose weight, its also a very funny game. bouncing up and down is so much fun. lol
you should save this cost to send your wife to gym
get a wii, doing sports everyday keep you fit if you are willing to do sports indoors.
the Wii is very overrated when it comes to the fun factor in my opinion.
Star Wars force Unleashed does not let you wave your remote like a lightsaber except in the options menu. When you swing your remote to the left your character swings it to the left. There is no freedom of movement beyond 1 movement. I expected it to be more story driven like the KOTOR series but it was more action driven. I guess that's good for some but i prefer heavy story driven games.
The only games i found fun on the Wii were the classic games. None of the new stuff were any fun at all.
