I was perusing the site and went to rate my Champion... wow.
I can't tell if it's the people designing them, or the tools to make heroes are pretty bad. However, there was not one hero that I looked at and thought: "Now that's cool." I am hoping that it's an early game kind of limited selection, but every time I look at the heroes on that thing, I wonder if I really want to play.
The sad thing is, I am really looking forward too it as well. I want a game where I am not bound by class. I want environments to matter. I love the idea of the nemesis. I just am having a hard time getting over the fact that I am going to have to look at those avatars for several hundred hours.
Is it just me?

I'm leaning towards it's an early game, limited selection. Cryptic obviously knows how to make good looking super heroes. I hope its not the limits of cel-shading, which frankly are turning me off. Haven't seen a screen shot yet I liked, and the gameplay videos are just as bad. I want to like it, I get sick of fantasy RPG's all the time and want diversity. But dunno if this is it for me.
The more options you give people the more chances are they'll put together something that just plain looks bad. Alot of people end up making their characters thinking that they are going to fill up every slot with whatever they think looks the coolest out of whatever is currently available.
I agree that the heroes in that gallery look pretty lame for the most part. But what that gallery does do is show you how many different sorts of looks can be acheived, and I think that's the point.
I don't know... many of them look oddly and badly alike. I have my fingers crossed hoping to see what they pull out. Today's article had some interesting looking characters so there is hope.
did you try the zoom feature on them? they looked better to me if you zoomed into the full body shots

Yeah all I have seen are either blah or outright ugly, and IMVPO thats basically the graphic style which I dont like. This bubbly-looking cell shade. Cell shade CAN be good, but in that case it looks merely clumsy. Like those bubbly creatures from "Spore".
