Hope someone can help because I am about to do a clean install and I cant find my discs.
I just upgraded to Vista Ultimate as I wanted to check out Direct x10.
Managed to get all the other games working but when I try and load up LotRO I get this message:
To run this application you must install one of the following versions of the .NET framework v1.1.4322
I have installed all available updates on Vista and then tried to install the file above but I get an error stating the version is not compatible with my windows version.
A) Do I need to do a clean install so it recognises Direct x10?
Is there a way for me to install an update that will fix everyting.
C) Is it easy enough to switch over to Direct x10 in LotRO? e.g. in AoC you can just choose in options...
Shame this had to be my 1001 post! Even greater shame that the game I enjoy most now is LotRO!
Thanks for any help

I know this is basic, but have you tried the troubleshooting FAQ on the LoTRo site? I had a problem with the Turbine Download manager( I came home from work, computer was not touched all day, and there was a file missing??? Baffles me). Found the answer right there. Vista is known to cause problems with LoTRo, so there is a good chance they have the answer. Also, I have to lower settings from highest in Dx10, or all my tree shadows look pixilated ( another wtf???).
Vista is known to cause problems with Lotro? That's a nonsense. It runs and performs much better than XP.
REALITY CHECK
I also, got that error when i transfer the client from one machines to another.. I downloaded 1.0somthing manually from Microsoft, and it worked. The game did however patch down more files after i did that to bring it up to that version number.
Not sure whats up with yours, but try here, you will have a better chance of response, they are normally very quick.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. I went to the first link and it let me load up LotRO and it updated itself further and I managed to get into the game and finally see it in the dx10 view. I was so close to reinstalling the whole game and we all know that means I would have been logging in next year.
Thanks again mate

Crazy, installing what it told you to install helped.
Yes...I had the same problem that Mr. Bloodworth had...worked for me too. Glad it worked for you...enjoy Middle-Earth.
Just a final point to add. I did actually try and download that program first time around but Vista spits up a screen stating there are version issues with my windows. So for anyone else trying it dont worry about it and just install and the LotRO patcher will make the changes..

Your comment is based on what facts and by whom?
I don't spend a lot of time on forums, but from what I've seen here and on the Gamespot forums, Vista has more problems with LoTR and a lot of other games in general than XP does.
My brother has Vista, I have XP. We play "almost" all the same games. So far, he has had many problems and I've had none.
Not trying to start a Vista/XP war here, just saying, state some facts, don't just be a fanboy.
If someone is having a "problem" with Vista, then they are having a PROBLEM with Vista. Either help the guy out with some actual, useful tip/s, or get off the pot. Sheesh.
