Is this correct?
I see they have a really shady way of subscribing. Acclaim prefers you to buy a membership(10 bucks per month) that does nothing, but make Acclaim coins cheaper. One then has to buy coins, because it cost 1500 Acclaim coins to subscribe. Of course, they aren't sold in 1500 denominations, so you have to buy more than you need. Just to subscribe to one month its a minimum of 20 dollars.
Does this not seem a bit excessive for a game in open beta?
Not sure I like were this is going.

subscribing to acclaim also gets you free coins each month. So its not $20 to get the game.
The beta is for testing the servers not the game and the only reason they are using acclaim coins to pay is that they havnt set up billing servers yet for CC information. I do not believe there will be a charcter wipe upon release of the game so basically your just paying to get to the "end game" faster.

Would you prefer that they say that you can't pay at all, and hence can't go past the free areas? Until they get the credit card system up and working, that's the alternative. You're free to wait until the beta is over to pay if you like. That's what I'm doing.

The information is there, in clear sight. Nothing hidden or cryptic. You are given the ability to make an informed choice whether to participate or not.
No law says that you do.
You don't have to play the open beta, you can just wait for it to go live. There is no rush to start.
If you don't like the coins, wait for the CC option which will be there for live launch.
Honestly, this has been discussed to death. Couldnt you have joined one of the previous threads at least?
and actually, due to the fact that coins can be gotten for free, you can end up getting MONTHS of game time for nothing but a few clicks.
Oh, and somewhere a yahoo e-mail account that I'll never check is getting spammed to Hell as a result...lol.

Dont waste your time or money on this game, of course its just my opinion, but this game sucks.

well, even I have to admit that Spellborn isn't for everyone.
If you need waypoints and markers to complete quests, NEED to have "epic" gear, need instanced PVP areas, traditional "holy trinity" group roles, auto-attack, hotbar-based ability spamming, linear progression, and flying cartoon mounts....Spellborn isn't for you.
But your type already has 100000000 games to play, right?
