Ex-AO/EvE player looking for something till Earthrise

lojiklojik Member Posts: 38

I'm itching at the seams waiting on Earthrise open beta to start, chances of me getting in closed are like 1Mil to 1, so i'm not putting my hopes up. I need something to tie me over until Earthrise hits retail (lets say 6 months min)

Looking for a Sci-fi based MMO or if its not sci-fi then a fantasy MMO that has some realism to it in terms of feel and GFX, I prefer the Asian style character GFX over the WoW/Ragnarok Style.

Reason I havn't just downloaded every game i come across is because I now live in NZ and we get charged for Data usage :(.

I guess from my past games customization is a big thing for me, I hate seeing 100 of the same class all with the same gear and same skills and the only difference is the name.

Past games:

Anarchy Online - Played 7 Years - Fav MMO

EvE Online - Played 3 years - Second fav but got too intensive for me now I'm in full time employment / have a life :)

RF-Online - Played 2 Years - third fav, the grind got to me near the end but the community and look of the game / pvp kept me playing

L2 - Played 1 Year - Had a good crew to play with but found the game to wear on my nerves allot.

Various others: SRO, TR, 9D, PWI, AoC.

Any suggestions?

thanks in advance

Kindest Regards

Lojik

    No suggestions?

I really don't want to go back to EvE or AO, there must be a decent game that fits my play style. Or am I going to have to wait until Earthrise hits.

I wonder when RF-Online is going to be restarted by the original makers, might be tempted to play that again, love those 50 v 50 v 50 chip wars.

How about...dare I say it, Star Wars Galaxies. If you've never played it (and so not hurt by all the changes) then there's plenty to do for a sci-fi fan. Planetary adventure, space adventure and crafting & trading. Good crafting means that you can give your avatar an individual look.

Personally, I'm looking for a sci-fi game with a skill based system like the original SWG. Any suggestions?

Sorry forgot to add that I have played it, did like it when it first came out but it wasn't my style of game, dunno. jsut something about it didn't appeal to me.

Anarchy Online is probably the closest current release for a skill based Sci-Fi MMO, the next one to uterlize that sort of gameplay that i know off is Earthrise but beta is not due for a few more months and retail is probably not until Q4 of this year. hence why i'm also looking for something to pass the time thats not fantasy based. Or if its is fanatasy based then I prefer the Asian style GFX like L2 over WoW style.

lol i didn't realize that RF Online is actually back up and running under CCR since february. Tempted to go back and play that till earthrise now.
