Free Realms - A few questions

DravendoreDravendore Member UncommonPosts: 83

Anyone here know if there is a system in place to invite friends to the beta yet?  I doubt it, but I figure it's worth asking.

Also, has anyone here even gotten into the beta?  My curiosity probably mainly stems from not being able to play it (want what you can't have syndrome), but who knows maybe it won't be just for kids.

During Closed Beta they only really let Reviewers and a very small number of people in. OB is supposed to start around the beginning of April ... so just a little bit longer.

Such a shame if that's true.  Why bother even having a closed beta sign up page.  I'm sure the major sites know how to contact SOE on their own.  Given the situation though, it appears as though you may be right.  I just figured they'd at least be letting in a few hundred at a time to the closed beta under an NDA.  Bah, since when did closed beta only become available to the elite?

If I remember right , during one of last years Game Conventions , they gave all the people that were there a Beta Key. So  I`m guessing those are the people playing the game now alongside other Professional Reviewers. The people that attended the presentation were around 150 maybe less , so not many people got in. But as I said before , OB should be starting in 1-2 weeks and then everyone can get in.

Free Realms still on go for open beta?

We are getting close. We don't want to publish any dates because we are committed to a certain level of polish for the beta and if something needs to be done we'll move the date.

Currently we're doing an 'internal beta' with just employees and their families.

We will have a 'closed beta' soon where we invite a small number of people and each day, depending on how things are going, we will invite more and more. Eventually we'll reach the 'beta' stage where anyone can join in the fun.

SOE must be doing something right.  Even though there are other massive MMO's being developed right now, Free Realms is still getting quite a bit of attention everywhere.  It'll be interesting to see how this game turns out.

I thought that this game was aimed at kids - 10-12 year olds? Advanced Runescape.

I'd love to give it a try. I've learnt not to judge a game based on its target market. Wizard 101, for example, is aimed at children, but it's downright fun and addictive, which is why it draws so many adult players. Free Realms looks like it could do the same for me.

And what's really sad is that your entire existence revolves around bashing Darkfall. It got old long ago...

The game has PvP but in the form of Duels, and there is combat aswell but not to the extent of your normal MMO's.

The combat would probably work the same as Wizard 101 and ToonTown, which although aimed at kids is actually quite fun for all ages.
