not trying to troll just want facts on some rumors i heard
1) all melee weps have same attack speed so everyone use two-handed weps T or F?
2) shields are usless or not at same power level as two-handed weps T or F?
3) melee combat never changes from left click spamming and melee skill progress only effects damage... no special moves ect T or F?
4) magic is just varying forms of magic missle and aoe... no buffs or crowd control T or F?

I'll answer these to the best of my ability
1) I am not positive if all weapons have the same weapon speeds but im pretty sure this is not true. I have seen people with dual daggers that hit mad fast. 2 Handed weapons are generally most effective in PvP because of damage. Though, this is the case in every game and the way it should be.
2) Shields are not useless. Most PvE groups require you to use a shield. Whoever has the arggo needs to block to absorb damage and the damage absorbtion is massive. In PvP shields are viable as you can absorb most of the damage dished out by a person wielding a 2hander and hope that they run out of stamina. Though, by holding parry/block you in turn drain your own stamina fast so you better have mana to stamina spell or pots. I generally would say 2h over 1h and shield in pvp but this is the way it should be.
3) I am not really sure what you are getting at with this? Of course melee is always going to be left clicking but there is strategy and movement involved. You have to run, block, dodge, spin, jump, etc. There are special moves that you unlock as your skill progresses some including knockback, whirlwind, etc.
4) There is buffs and debuffs and such throughout the various spell lines like necromancy. We still do not know everything about magic as magic takes a very long time to skill up and is very very expensive. From my knowledge there really is no crowd control but that is a good thing. Crowd Control ruins games.

You have been trolled by darkfall hater m8.
sigh, another 'mysterious' 1 post persona that hates darkfall. I am noticing a pattern now
Kinda goes along with the pattern of the delusional sycophantic failbois supporting anything that comes out of the mouth of Tacos or AV.
I see a pattern where a 1 post wonder makes a slightly negative post and immediately the failbois jump in to "correct" his misconceptions and say how he is wrong and then proceed to tell us how everything is so great about Dark-n-Fail.
{ Mod Edit }
Sorry but not all of us are as gulliable as you think. The only reason you are kissing up to this new hater is because he supports your cause
why not do something more productive with your time. Make a game to compete with Darkfall perhaps? Support Mortal Online?
Most people, like myself, will purchase a game anyway and see for themselves. $50 is a drop in the bucket for some of us
oh snap perhaps this 1 post wonder is your alt? hmmm, awfully defensive are we not? How about we get a moderator to do an IP Lookup and see if your IP matches this guy...
The OP came here with questions, they were answered corectly and with detail.
Why does that make them fanbois when they answered his questions that seemed a bit negative with answers that explaineda ll of his missconceptions were false?
He asked if they were true or false and even someone who has not played DF and merely followed the forums or read a few articles could answer that question.
In fact I bet you yourself could have told him that the game had weapon abilities and that shields were useful, its all over the forums..
I don't see why your so quick to jump and claim that people who give answers are brainless fanbois.
METHINKS HE DOTH PROTEST TOO MUCH.
Woah some neutral guy comes in and asks specific questions about combat and all the fanbots can do is throw insults at him ? In 6 months a time when the game is on the rocks the 'bots be shouting "it was the trolls".... nice one guys
As for combat there is plenty of videos on youtube now to show what it is like. IMHO It looks and is quite basic. If you heard that the lead developer described the combat as "Mount and Blade" (M&B) like then I have to say that I disagree. Certainly weight and speed to do not seem equally implemented. I have seen inventory shots where someone has loads fo stuff being carried to the point of stupity so I seriously call out claims to wieght/speed. I suspect most of the weapons are simply longer ranged with more damage. I see most people with a two handed sword running around (fast) in full plate). I was hoping the game be more like EVE ship sizes with a paper, rock, siccors sort of strategy. Sadly its not.
One final word of wanring don't bother reading DF main website FAQ it is both incorrect and out of date. *Insert obligatory message getting AV to update there website here*
if it makes any difference i am downloading the game now because of how well my post was replied to.....
1. It's not really the speed that is the problem, it is the range. Some weapons have a much longer range, so everyone uses them
2. Depends, if you are group pvp, you can use your shield to control things til help arrives. From my experience, the stamina you use to block means that if you block, you won't be able to kill anything... so it comes down to who uses the most stamina potions. In PVE, the tank should always have a shield
3. Yeah, it's a FPS game, not like mmorpgs
4. There are buffs, but each magic school basically has a magic missle spells (with different names). Nobody really trains magic very high because it is very expensive and you have to carry regeants around. Most people prefer to run around naked with their newbie weapons so they don't lose anything when they die. If you want to play a mage, you'll be losing regeants all the time.

It wasn't the "haters" who started the fight in this thread. One guy answered the question, then the second reply was about "hater trolls" then the third reply called the OP a "one post hater".
Original Poster, thanks for the questions. Good luck on your gaming.
One of the more interesting aspects of Darkfall is the "friendly fire" concept. Well, it's not actually a concept - it's just that its more realistic. If you cast a spell and hit other people, you'll hurt them. If you swing a sword blinding and a player is between you and the monster, you'll hit him in the back for extra damage.
Therein lies the part of the strategy. To use your attacks, you must navigate the "complete" battlefield, not just the where the enemies are. Your defense can be as simple as hiding behind a tree, or standing on top of a rock. All of these things can be used to your advantage.
Magic, is still a mystery. Few have excelled at the craft, and much of the lore can only be discovered through experimentation and treasure. What I do know if that you can train your character to cast faster, use less mana, and even work each spell independently in level. For example, I could train my Lesser magic to level 25, but Mana Missile, a Lesser magic spell, could also be trained in 25 levels.
Lots of technique is involved in Darkfall combat. A simple trick could be letting your opponent wear himself out. All attacks are initiated with Left-click, but you have a hotbar that you use to queue up different attacks.

See? Even when he said he was gonna give it a try, you still cast doubt on his truthfulness. Is this so, when he comes here later saying it sucks, you can claim he never really played?
Point one. I am not kissing up to anyone and since you have limited ability to understand what I wrote you totally missed the point of my response.
Point two. Learn something about how networks work genius, especially NAT and then you won't look so foolish with the "look up the IP" comment, which is a typical know nothing web newbie comment.
Point three. Let me see if I can explain my point for all the mentally challenged people on this forum....
Let's just assume that someone makes a post about Dork-n-Fail and it is a bit on the negative side. This gives the failbois the chance to jump in and sing the praises of Dork-n-Fail thereby "advertising" it with more false hype and lies. Now lets assume for a moment that the person making the negative OP is a shill for oh I don't know how about some game company in Europe on a new one post wonder account. You see where this is going yet? Probably not but I am sure many do.
BTW what is in red, was in so many words, what was Mod edited out. Makes you wonder why doesn't it? Maybe too close to the truth and some people know it?
the only CC we know about is a ST melee knockback (which everyone gets at 25 melee skill) and a lightning bolt-like spell that does a knockback.
no known traditional CC, though noone can say for sure as they have all along kept inner game info to themselves.
