Well after puting some money down for Mining/Smithing .... it's a really good money maker...some weapon or armor were selling for 30-40silver...
And even at the low lvl i was able to craft good weapon 5-11 and it was selling for 5 silver easily...which cost me about 1 or 2 silver MAX.....so i guess it's a good money maker...
Who needs a profession to make money? As a Druid, I am able to fish in Moonglade. In the first 5 minutes, I reeled in an axe worth 1.5 gold pieces and I was only level 17. I would guess on average I could pull in 15-25s every 10 minutes.
maybe but i found fishing boring you know...you don't have a real result when you need it....if i ever need to craft something....i gather some materials then poof....voila!....i got an axe that worth a lot...you know what i mean....
i don't like fishing because all my friends in FFXI were fishing...hehe
I happened to fish in Moonglade during the quest to obtain Bear form and i too fished up valuable items. Fishing is so much fun, i'm definitely picking it as a secondary profession.
As for primary profession, i think skinning and leatherworking is the path to affluence, which is the path i shall take.

I've asked a few CBers what is the most profitable profession and they all agree. Enhanting. But only on higher levels expect to be poor early on. But later on it was up to 8-15 gold per enchantment.
I took Mining/Engineering and I made a LOT of money on mining. I'm not sure who would buy copper, but I had at least 200 copper basrs (ten stacks of 20) in the auction at all times. Once I hit 1G, everytime I looked in my mail I had another 5G coming in. At the end of the game, I was level 16 rogue and had 12-14G and all skills purchased for my level. But for the engineering, I tried to sell scopes and such but that didn't work out too well. I'll probably be going with mining/skining for release.= for the reason I didn't really use any of the items I engineered.

My Druid will definitely have leathermaking/skinning as the primary skills. But I will start up another character that will have enchanting. I'm sure within a few months, all skills will be covered.
I found leatherworking/skinning to be very profitable profession. Everytime I turned around I looked in my mail and had alot of money waiting in their from selling stacks of leather or armor kits. My plan in retail is to have a Hunter with leatherworking/skinning and a Druid with Herbalizm/Alchemy. I've seen elixirs such as Elixir of Defense go for 50s+ just for each one!
The professions in WoW are so versatile and the skill leveling so easy theres really no actual need to buy anything that isn't mob dropped.. so there wont be much inflation.. even rare and super rare items are attainable if you just gain a few lvls and research what variety of mobs drops the items you want... WoW... no really I mean WOW... this game isn't work... it's not another job... it's fun, entertaining, stress relieving... even dieing isn't painful or stressful... this game ROCKS.....

Well i was a rogue in OB, and i got him to lvl 26. I took skinning and leatherworking, and at the end of OB I ended up with 14 gold. At the biginning you may not get that much money with these 2 proffecions, but later when you get passed 100 skill of leatherworking and skinning as well, you start making quiet a nice profit of it. Although material requiered are a lot, they are relatively easy to get, and so you can make plenty of good selling stuff.
My point of view and i think my 14 gold before lvl 26 speak for myself.
The answer is with any economy every trade skill will be in demand. Because we are limited to 2 trade skills your gonna get alot of people needing something or other along the way. For example alchemy for the elixir of defence (its used in leatherworking) and an elixir of strong ltroll blood for a quest for 1 gold.
Then u got Mining, Selling the raw mats to the creators of items, skinning ( the same).
Leatherworking: Everyone likes to add extra armour kits and you can sell your armour to rogue, shamans, druid etc Tailoring: Selling fancy outfits, bags (everyone needs a bag and more space) Enchanting: Addint cool abilities... only useful later lvls tho. Engineering: Well you can make scopes for some players who use ranged weapons. Engineering like enchanting requires alot of money to be put into it for you to see profits.
In all honesty Mining/Skinning would be a v good combo, but i tried it in open beta. I just got bored hehe, there wasn't any goals to go for just go gather and sell the produce. So i dropped skinning and tried Engineering. Wasn't too bad.
TBH light leather bundles where selling for 15 silver and 20 Copper Bars for 30 silver. It was insane heh.

It seemed on the beta server I was on, everyone and their mother had skinning/leatherworking. I couldn't give it away. There wasn't much trading at all which disappointed me but from the posts that I read here, it seems there is an economy. I guess it was only on my server.
In beta, I was constantly on the look out for elixers. I think that may be a very profitable profession. I was also in need of better weapons.
On my Server for Open Beta it was horrendous getting armour kits. I remember paying 50 silver for 4 light leather kits ^ ^
Nobody did it so the few which did leatherworking kinda monopolise it hehe.
It calmed down when others took skinning/leather for the profit etc.
If your just after cash then go for mining/skinning, i know that some people get alot of money from selling the raw mats and its dead easy to raise. Just use it.

not really, because the professions are not that hard to do and you can have multiple characters per server.
Screenshots and videos are necessary for first impressions, but what you can't see in them are the things that matter the most.
so...
^that being said, i think weapon/armor prices will be inflated.
I have Tailoring/Enchanting with tailoring i create magic robes to disenchant and get they'r magic materials to enchant my other stuff
