I think alot of the people that don't like this game haven't ever played in the Free League post level 80.  It's a blast, and the higher up you go the more fun it is.  The PvP in this game is very well done.  Nation battles are the most fun I've ever had since DAoC keep sieges :)

I started playing this in January (the 8th, I think).

According to the in game counter, I've played this game twice as much in 2 1/2 months, than I have played Lotro in 8 months (I started that in July 08, and have a lifetime sub).

I actually am the reverse - I liked FL early on, but lately it's gotten much less fun as I've leveled up. You used to be able to do pretty decent with your normal, PvE team (at least my PvE team). But most FLers now have dedicated FL builds which wipe the floor with me.

And it's gotten worse since the patch of about a month ago. Now I only have about 22 seconds in FL to move my guys instead of 30. (I thought it was 25 in the notes, but it always says 22, guess I'm missing a couple due to lag or something?).

So I basically miss at least 1-2 merc's turn during a round.  They also nerfed melee damage, which my build is sort of heavy on.

On the other hand, I really like the quests. Sure, they are a little grind heavy, but combat in this game is fun.  Basically quests seem to require about an hours worth of killing critters, then you turn it in, get a couple non-critter killing quests, then get quests to kill a different type of critter. Repeat until you get to a boss.

Formulaic? Yes. But they do a pretty good job of mixing it up. Sometimes you just need to kill critters, sometimes you need drops, sometimes you just need info on them.  And the monsters you need to kill vary a lot as well. Generally some are flying, some have special attacks, etc, all of which require different tactics.  And you move to different dungeons every 5 levels or so.

Like I'm in the Volcano Valley now.  First I had to kill raptors.  These had a nasty DOT attack, so I'd have to use my monk more.  Then basilisks, which didn't require anything special.  And somewhere I had to kill flying pterosaurs, which need ranged heavy (had to tweak my formation a little).

Now I'm killing Flame Giants, which are tricky and AoE heavy.  Some of them cast meteor strike. Some summon a 4 armed money who does a beast summon. So I have to adjust my tactics and formation to fight them (which basically means healing a lot more).

On the other hand, I've hit the area where the grind really starts. My main is only 93rd, but my BT hit 95 a couple days ago and progress from 95 onward in this game is glacial.

I understand why they do this, for the people who get from 1-95 in 2 days, but for those of us that don't level that fast, it's a bit much.

I tried AO again after the big patch and got to Lv 95 with my main, witch and BT both 96.

Last night I uninstalled the game. Yes because the grind seems to get pretty annoying. (XP scale goes up by factor x10 or more)

I don't see any real endgame content either, like a quest to search for forgotten Atlantis. PvP, guild or nation wars are not my definition for endgame content.

That and the fact that the market (Macedon) is totally screwed now and it's getting worse ...

(i.e. Thoroughbred 13-15M > Heavenly Horse 150-200M is an outright scam)

That aside, I was having a great time from Lv 1-95, cool folks for a F2P, one could only wish for more communication ingame.

Other problems is guild climbing, guilds and nations often lose their high-lv players to the top tier nations.

Too much power play IMO, espec after the XP brickwall of Lv 95+

Conclusion, the game is doing very well for a F2P, it has the chance for a long stay if nDoors will stop screwing with the player base (lottery cash shop, maniac mercs after they made ppl roll a maniac main, RMT that screws the market)

It's a good game with fun elements, but it's not except from the common flaws of F2P games.

i may not be in a high level yet, but i agree with you. the game has flaws, although i still believe they will make the necessary updates to keep the players happy :)

I definitely like the game but there are some parts that are annoying. Like for the auto run, I like the auto run in a way that it helps me go where I need to go but when your bumping into monsters because of the auto run, it gets very annoying.

hey i like this game too and currently have a new acct for this i try this game last week. This game is very deffinetly awesome but the must continue in updating and continue to add or re new some interface. Because like the others, they said that there are some fetures that makes you piss off or totally annoying. Hope the developres of this game will make some more improvements in the future.

I enjoyed AO very much but by 65 I had grown weary of the formulaic nature of the quests & whilst the combat itself is very well thought out & done, even that gets to be repetitive.

Had I been in the position to buy up Perm Merc room slots I would have tried a PvP built formation, but with the non-quested mercs PvP can be tough as hell, & if you use them they need to be of equal level to the rest of your team to be worth using.

I enjoyed the Free League PvP up to a point, but as I hit the mid leagues I ran across players who seem to have an endless supply of scrolls (having your opponent capable of 3 scrolls + the ones the Colosseum itself uses can leave you utterly wrecked in 1 round as multiple effects piledrive you from a winning position to an utter defeat (happens a lot), & after a while that just got infuriating, maybe it's a "can't beat them, go join them in the item mall" scenario.

I found there to be no active Eu guild on the server I was on, which was a major downer & after building my own & trying to recruit for 6 weeks I gave up on the idea.

Overall though I very much enjoyed the game, I took a break from it to play Runes of Magic but I will very likely return to it now & again to potter around working towards the high end.

If I were to add one thing it would be more group content & group quests/dungeons, a 3 player cap on a party is quite a handicap i think., though I can see the need for it.

I like this game a lot, but the increasing grind to levelling is pushing me away more and more. The gameplay is fun and I like the graphics... the grind i can do without.

hahaha!maybe i hate grinding as much as you do, that's why i keep on doing free leagues aside from the scenario quests. but to be honest, grinding here in atlantica is way easier than most games ive played. :) all in all, i like the game :P

I find it harder to grind in Atlantica than in other games. In other games such as Ragnarok Online I can reach level 99 in just 5 days. It is very hard to level up fast in Atlantica Online since there are level requirements per dungeon.
