World of Warcraft (EU)

NibbitNibbit Member Posts: 14

I understand that World of Warcraft is being released in stores on the 23rd of November this year. But I ask, why is it not being released in the UK on the same day? Surely, if the game has been finished, it's just a simple fact of shipping CDs over here.

I looked on amazon.co.uk and it said release date 4/2/2004 !!!!!! (thats 4th of February). Stupid.

According to www.worldofwarcraft.co.uk we are able to pre-order on the 26th of November. How kind of them! imageimage

Because NA and Euro servers will be seperate. So their launches will be seperate, too.

In other words, you won't be able to play on US serves will the EU version of the game, and vice versa. Blizzard said they may allow this in the future, but it would be omse time after the EU release.

    Blame Vivendi.

This was a bad idea releasing it so far after EQ2 went live in the EU. They realised this would lose them a lot of potential customers to EQ2, who in three months time would have invested a lot of time in their character and wouldn't want to switch.

Panic measure came into force, so now if you pre-order you will get a cd key straight away to play open beta i the EU till release. Whats the bets they don't do a character wipe to the EU servers after open beta.

It's not on really is it. I think they should set all the servers up first. THEN release it worldwide. Dispicable behaviour. image

That's what I'm hoping. I ordered a US copy from Gamestop and I live in the UK, screw waiting 4 months to play the exact same game. You just need to register with a US address, which isn't hard to find.

I dont think i will play WoW at all now. i have just bought EQ2, and now that it turns out that WoW wont be coming out in the UK for a good few months, i will be spending al my time playing EQ2. And by the time WoW is released, im not gonna wanna switch, no matter what Blizzard say.

In one way or another... European players will be poopped up by Blizzard.

Either, all the players that has bought the US game can not play at all and just threw a lot of money down the sink. Thousands of them... (Possible)

Or, they let them play on US servers until EU release then force move them to EU servers... (Loosing all their friends)

And EU servers start up with tons of lvl 50 characters making any PvP impossible until the normal players have reached lvl 50 as well, making the game unbalanced both in PvP and Economy from scratch. (Bad for all players)

The obvious choice, that DaoC did with much succes, to sell the US game in Europe as well, and those that did not need some flipping German of French translation and actually know two languages can play wherever they want, without obstacles, that choice seems very slim.

However they solve this, they WILL make EU players upset. SO yes.. A really, really bad decision. There should be no problem for EU players to play on US servers and stay there, most have stupendously good connections by default. But there is little chance they will do what is good for the players... So.. One way or another... We will wish they had just made the conditions the same for all, and not put the rest of the world in the waste basket like some trash you are forced to have as costumers

Very bad desicion! Why should countries who teach english in school suffer because some countries are ignorant and dont want to keep up with the rest of the world that know english?
Let them wait for their damn special version, and release the game to the rest of us! ::::26::

Read that GT4 was delayed for the same damn reason too ::::27::

    To be fair,

People in Beta speculated that this is due to some odd legalities from Vivendi owning blizzard.

The stated reasons of "better gaming experience due to lag and service" is just a load of BS and everyone knows that.

This I think is the worst decision blizzard has made in a long time. They seem to fail to understand that gaming communities are global in scope. Even SOE understands this one (/boggle). This was just a horrible decision and I hope that Blizzard will change their policy on this soon.
